2025 Magic Millions Night Tips & Preview

It’s take two for this year’s Magic Millions race meeting after a drama filled fortnight for the Gold Coast Turf Club.

Saturday saw the Club get through the first three races on the card before heavy rain forced the postponement of the remaining seven events.

Thankfully, the weather gods have been kind during the week and for the first time, the Magic Millions race meeting will be held under lights.

The first race will kick off at 5:30pm local time and the track is currently rated a soft 6, with a further upgrade expected.

We’ve gone through each and every runner and our thoughts and selections can be found below.

RACE 1: (5:30PM AEST) QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS SUBZERO 2200M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 4 Miss Joelene

J: James Orman (56.5kg) T: Kelly Schweida

Miss Joelene is one that may benefit from the races being postponed as she was originally set to make the quick back up into the 2025 Magic Millions Subzero after a scoring a well-deserved victory in The Wave.

There was plenty of merit in her performance as she endured a wide run throughout and still found enough of over the final part to kick away and score comfortably.

A daughter of Russian Revolution, she had been placed in all four starts this campaign prior and was unlucky not to have won at her third run back.

A Group One placegetter, having finished third in the Queensland Oaks earlier this year, she’s always shown a touch a class and the rise to 2200m will certainly suit.

Jimmy Orman has a great affinity with the mare, he goes back aboard is sure to afford her every chance from the low draw.

RACE 2: (6:03PM AEST) THE STAR MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC 1200M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 10 Invincible Woman

J: Damian Lane (55kg) T: Lloyd Kennewell & Lucy Yeomans

Invincible Woman has just had the one start for one win and she did it with ease.

A daughter of I Am Invincible, as her name suggests, she made her debut over 1100m on the Caulfield Heath where she was taken straight to the front and never looked in doubt.

Travelling sweetly, she gave a good kick when asked for an effort and extended strongly to score by just under three lengths.

She’s since been given a 1000m trial on the Gold Coast course proper to keep her up to the mark and with natural improvement, she sure to make her presence felt in the 2025 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

RACE 3: (6:35PM AEST) HOWDEN MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS 1200M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 5 Semana

J: Damian Lane (56kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Semana returns to the races and the Ciaron Maher trained mare brings the strongest form lines into this year’s Magic Millions Snippets.

Placed in both the Group 1 Coolmore Classic and the Queen of the Turf in the Autumn of last year, she then headed to Queensland where she finished runner up in the Stradbroke Handicap.

Back to Sydney, she was beaten only 1.3 behind Via Sistina in the Winx Stakes but she failed to fire in subsequent runs.

She does race well fresh and was just given an easy time of things in a recent trial.

Damian Lane will do the steering, and the low draw can see her settle just in behind the leaders and have the drop on them late.

RACE 4: (7:05PM AEST) MAGIC MILLIONS CUP 1400M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Charm Stone

J: Damian Lane (54.5kg) T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr

Charm Stone resumes off an eight-week let up.

Prepared by the Price / Kent team, the I Am Invincible mare showed she was back to her best when returning off a lengthy break late last year.

After a solid first up effort in the Northwood Plume, she powered home to claim third behind Marhaba in the Group Three Rising Fast but was luckless at her latest run in the Rupert Clarke.

A quality mare, she’s a three-time stakes winner and she lines up here off a very encouraging performance in a Rosehill trial.

Damian Lane has partnered her in all three of her victories, he jumps back in the saddle and with the low draw I think she’ll be very hard to beat in the 2025 Magic Millions Cup.

RACE 5: (7:45PM AEST) GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS 1400M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 6 Snitzanova

J: Daniel Stackhouse (56kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Snitzanova is shooting for four straight wins, and I think she has the class to get it done in the 2025 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

The Snitzel filly did plenty wrong on debut over 1200m but made good ground late and has been unbeaten in three subsequent runs.

Relishing the rise in trip she powered over the top of them late to take out her maiden on the Kensington before taking out the Group Three Spring Stakes at Newcastle and Group Two Sandown Guineas.

She’s proven in all conditions and with six weeks since her Guineas triumph, the drop back to 1400m will suit.

A very versatile filly, Daniel Stackhouse will have options from gate nine and she gets very nicely here at set weights.

RACE 6: (8:20PM AEST) TAB MAGIC MILLIONS FILLES & MARES 1400M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Each Way

No. 1 Revolutionary Miss

J: Blake Shinn (58.5kg) T: Ciaron Maher

Revolutionary Miss comes off a plain performance at Eagle Farm, but I think we’ll see a much-improved effort from her here in the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares.

A six-time stakes winner, the daughter of Russian Revolution has well and truly proven herself a top-class mare and she did finish third in the Magic Millions Cup on this day last year.

She will have taken good fitness benefit from that latest outing, and she’ll appreciate getting onto a track with a bit of give.

The slight rise in trip will suit, she’s drawn to receive all the favours under Mark Zahra and he knows how to get the best out of her.

RACE 7: (5:55PM AEST) RACING QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS OPEN 1300M

Race Starts in: Race Finished

Win

No. 2 Cifrado

J: Boris Thornton (58kg) T: Rex Lipp

Cifrado has been racing in top form this campaign and there’s a lot to like about him here.

Runner up in both the Swiss Ace and the George Moore, he powered home from the back to take out the Lough Neagh in impressive fashion.

Last start he stuck to the inside and was strong through the line in The Buffering.

He’s fit, he’s got a terrific record over the 1300m and he’s drawn ideally in gate four under Boris Thornton in the Magic Millions QTIS Open.
