Blue Diamond Stakes 2026 Results
The official 2026 Blue Diamond Stakes results will be available below once the race takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
- #12 Streisand
- #3 Closer To Free
- #5 Guest House
Clinton McDonald‘s seasoned filly Streisand ($11) proved race experience counts for plenty when the progressive daughter of Magnus showed the boys how it’s done with a commanding win in Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes 2026 results at Caulfield. Underrated by the punters and bookies despite coming off a lead-up win in the Prelude for fillies, the bonny two-year-old went to another level thanks to a lovely Ben Melham ride to go back-to-back at her fifth career start and salute at double-figures.

Run over 1,200 metres in late February, the Blue Diamond Stakes is one of the big races of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival. Open to two-year-old horses, the event traditionally takes place at Caulfield Racecourse in late February.
The Blue Diamond Stakes offers $2 million in prize money.
The richest race for two-year-olds in Victoria, the Blue Diamond Stakes first took place in 1971 and serves as a nice lead-up into Sydney’s Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill later in the autumn.
The 2024 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Lady Of Camelot came via a lead-up second in that year’s Blue Diamond results.
Plenty of star horses have won the Blue Diamond Stakes over the years including Manikato (1978), Alinghi (2004), and Sepoy (2011).
In 2024 Hayasugi joined Midnight Fever (1987) as the only fillies in history to win the Preview – Prelude – Blue Diamond Stakes treble.
The 2025 Blue Diamond Stakes produced that spring’s subsequent Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes champion with the Blue Diamond runner-up Tentyris going one better in the Flemington sprint feature.
In 2026, Streisand became the latest filly to complete the Blue Diamond Prelude (F) – Blue Diamond double.

Which Horse Will Win the Blue Diamond Stakes in 2026?
The best way to pick which horse will win the Blue Diamond Stakes in 2026 is look for proven performers coming through the Blue Diamond series of races, watch for any youngsters with a previous victory over 1200m and runners with a good record at the track.
Additional factors to consider when picking the Blue Diamond Stakes winner include:
- The Prelude – With very few exceptions, most winners come from the Blue Diamond Prelude races. Devil Night (2nd in 2025) was the last male Blue Diamond winner to come via a run in the Prelude (colts and geldings) while the Blue Diamond series clean sweep was completed in 2024 by the filly Hayasugi. The fellow Clinton McDonald-trained filly Streisand (2026) was the last filly to do the girls’ Prelude – Blue Diamond double.
- Last Start Winners – Two-year-olds coming off a lead-up win have dominated the Blue Diamond results.
- Filly Factor – In recent years the fillies have held their own against the colts & geldings with a number beating home the boys in the Group 1 feature. From 2012-26 seven fillies have won the Blue Diamond Stakes most recently Hayasugi (2024) and Streisand (2026) – both prepared by trainer Clinton McDonald.
Blue Diamond Stakes Favourites 2026
Early favourites in 2026 Blue Diamond Stakes betting include Home Affairs colt Guest House who impressively won his debut at Cranbourne in late December before a second in the Blue Diamond Prelude, the fellow Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Big Sky whose first trip to the races saw him salute at Flemington by nearly 3 lengths on January 17 before he won the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes, and shock Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unit Five prepared by Ciaron Maher.
