Run over 1,500 metres every March at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, the Coolmore Classic is a Group 1 race, held during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Offering $1,000,000 in prize money as of 2024, the quality handicap clash is open only to fillies and mares and currently runs in Sydney on the same day Melbourne hosts The All-Star Mile race.
The Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) and the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) make nice lead-up races into the Coolmore Classic.
Zougotcha (2024) was the last to do the Millie Fox – Coolmore Classic race double.
The best out of the race may back-up in the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m) – recently run as the Coolmore Legacy Stakes – at Randwick and Con Te Partiro (2020) was the last to do the double.
Many star female gallopers have won the Coolmore Classic since the race was first contested in 1973 including dual hero Sunline (2000, 2002) and Typhoon Tracy (2009).
The Coolmore Classic winner is exempt from ballot for the Doncaster Mile and Queen Of The Turf Stakes races held at Randwick in April.

Since 2003 only three Coolmore Classic favourites have saluted for the punters, most recently Aloha (2011) and Zougotcha ($3.30 in 2024).
