The Moonee Valley Fillies Classic is a Group 2 mile race for three-year-old fillies run and won at The Valley in late October each Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
The event forms part of the bumper Cox Plate Day program and offers $300,000 in total prize money.
The fillies in the field face off at set weights and the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic serves as a potential lead-up to the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during November’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Formerly run in the autumn as the Moonee Valley Oaks, the last filly to win both races as a three-year-old was Special Harmony who won the 2003 Crown Oaks before coming back the next autumn to win the 2004 MV Oaks (now MV Fillies Classic).
