The Run To The Rose is a Group 2 race for three-year-old spring hopefuls held in September each Sydney Spring Racing Carnival at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
Offering $300,000 in prize money as of 2023, the 1200m sprint is contested at set weights plus penalties and serves as a key lead-up into the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m). Bivouac (2019) was the last horse to complete the Run To The Rose – Golden Rose double.
The event is the feature race on the card and is accompanied by the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes and Group 2 Sheraco Stakes.
The better Run To The Rose graduates may also head south that spring for a shot at Melbourne’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m). Anamoe (2021) was the last horse to complete the interstate Run To The Rose – Caulfield Guineas double.
The 2022 Run To The Rose winner In Secret was the first filly to take out the race. She franked the form with a next-up Golden Rose second before beating home the boys at Flemington in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m).
In 2025 Tempted became the second Run To The Rose winning filly in history.
