- #9 Stylish
- #15 Gold Medallist
- #13 Betwitchery
Six-year-old mare Stylish ($7) finally earned a deserved breakthrough at stakes level when she overcame a horror draw to capture the 2026 Rose Of Kingston Stakes results at Flemington on Saturday. Trained by Ben, Will and JD Hayes and ridden boldly by Ethan Brown, the daughter of Lonhro relished the rain-affected conditions, pressing forward from barrier 16 before settling in an ideal position and unleashing her trademark turn of foot to defeat Gold Medallist by a long neck, with Betwitchery a further three-quarter length away in third. The victory continued a consistent campaign for the tough mare, who was unlucky in defeat at her previous start, with JD Hayes praising Brown’s decisive ride and noting the mare was “rock hard fit” deep into her preparation. Brown, having his first race-day sit aboard Stylish, said the heavy track proved a major advantage as she was perfectly placed back against mares’ company, producing a strong late surge to secure the biggest win of her career and deliver valuable black-type success for her connections.

The Rose Of Kingston Stakes – formerly known as the Blazer Stakes – is a Group 2 race for mares run over 1400m at Flemington Racecourse in late September or early October on Turnbull Stakes Day.
The set weights plus penalties event offers $300,000 in prize money and makes a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) run back at the track over the Melbourne Cup Carnival. No mare has completed the Rose Of Kingston – Empire Rose Stakes (formerly the Myer Classic) double however since Sedately (1994).
Inaugurated in 1989 the Rose Of Kingston Stakes is named in honour of former start VRC Oaks (1981) and Australian Derby (1982) winning filly Rose Of Kingston.
