Run over 1,200 metres, the Silver Shadow Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place at Randwick Racecourse. With a $300,000 prize purse, it attracts its share of local sprinters.
This race has served as an excellent lead up to the Golden Rose Stakes, taking place the following month at Randwick. It is also the opening leg of the Princess Series of races that culminates with the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) back at the track on Epsom Handicap Day. Libertini (2019) and Zougotcha (2022) are the latest fillies to complete the Silver Shadow Stakes – Flight Stakes double.
Other races held on the same day at Randwick include the Winx Stakes, the Show County Quality, and the Toy Show Quality.
Following on from the Silver Shadow Stakes most fillies are aimed towards the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m). Zougotcha (2022) was the last to do the double.
