CAPTIVE ROCK (8) should be better for having run over this track and distance last month when finishing second to My China Plate back from a spell.
The form out of that assignment has held up well since and Simon Zahra’s three-year-old has already shown he’s capable of handling a wet track.

| Second-up. First start raced behind the speed prior to fading to run last of 7 at Caulfield in the G3 Chairman’s Stk on January 31 over 1000m, 22 len behind Big Sky with 57kg at $51. Returned from break led but faded 2nd of 9 at this track Mdn-Sw on July 13 over 1000m, slow going 2.75 len behind My China Plate carrying 57kg at $7.50. Fitter and is a leading contender. | |||
CHATEAU VEGA (8) finds it tough to win but has been gifted a nice draw as she looks improve on her latest effort over the track and distance.
The daughter to Lope de Vega ran on well and kept finding to grab second in the end, a run she needed as she presents rock-hard fit now deep into her prep.

| Racing well recently. Most recently held ground to the line 2nd of 12 at this track Bm56 on July 13 over 2200m, slow going 0.5 len behind Winter Grace carrying 59kg at $7. The start before that 4th of 14 at Sale Bm62 on June 28 over 1728m, on heavy track; 4.5 len behind Tishman carrying 56.5kg at $21. Working up to a win. Tough to beat. | |||
BANK HEIST (3) gets in well with the claim and is every chance to roll forward and run this race on his own terms.
He’s drawn slightly awkwardly in barrier 8 but he has enough early speed to find the front early and dictate.
Having won over the track and distance quite smartly last start, he’s easy to have on recent form with improvement still to come.

| Last start raced right near the speed and boxed on; won by a neck at this track Mdn-Sw July 13 over 1600m on a rain affected track defeating Colour Circle carrying 59.5kg at $11. The start before that 5th of 8 at Bendigo Mdn-Sw on July 5 over 1600m, on rain affected going; 3.5 len behind Jenni Poppins carrying 56.5kg at $6.50. Looks suitably placed here and can go on with it now. | |||
MY CHINA PLATE (10) was a smart winner on debut when fast into stride to find the box seat.
He eventually found the front and put paid to his rivals by 2.75 lengths, an effort he can certainly replicate providing he isn’t looking for longer now.
With similar conditions expected and the gate offering him every chance to go forward, he’ll be very hard to beat.

| Was well-supported at debut, won favourite; raced right near the speed and boxed on; won by 2.75 len at this track Mdn-Sw July 13 over 1000m on a rain affected track defeating Captive Rock carrying 55kg at $1.80. Will take a lot from that run and is sure to play a big role. | |||
