Chris Waller’s champion mare Autumn Glow ($1.28F) made a mess of her rivals on Golden Slipper Day racing away late for a 2.79 length victory for the punters in the 2026 George Ryder Stakes result. The win handed the mare her 11th victory from as many career starts and saw jockey James McDonald and the stable celebrate a Group 1 treble on the card following earlier success with Aeliana (Ranvet) and Autumn Glow (Rosehill Guineas). McDonald added to his record Group 1 tally having surpassed Damien Oliver with 130 and making it 131 with Autumn Glow who is now the $2 favourite for the Group 1 $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes on April 11.

Run over 1,500 metres each March at Rosehill Gardens, the George Ryder Stakes is a Group 1 event contested as part of the autumn’s Golden Slipper Stakes Day.
The weight-for-age event offers $1 million in prize money and serves as a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick during April’s ‘The Championships’. Winx (2016) was the last galloper to complete the George Ryder Stakes – Doncaster Mile double.
Champion mare Winx won four straight editions of the George Ryder Stakes from 2016-19. The mares were back in form again in 2022 with a win by Forbidden Love who completed the Canterbury Stakes – George Ryder Stakes double.
In 2023 the James Cummings-trained Anamoe ($1.80F) saluted for the punters as the short-priced favourite.
The 2024 George Ryder Stakes winner Veight became the first three-year-old to win since Pierro (2013).
The 2025 George Ryder proved a serious form race. Winner Gringotts came back in the spring and pulled off The Big Dance–The Gong double for the second straight year, while runner‑up Fangirl franked the form immediately by taking out the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf at her next start. Third placegetter Ceolwulf kept the trend rolling, returning in the spring to claim the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes – Champions Mile double across two states.
In 2026 the George Ryder Stakes results saw the Chris Waller-trained mare Autumn Glow retain her undefeated status with her 11th win from as many career starts.
