Ranvet Stakes 2026 Results
The official 2026 Ranvet Stakes results will be available below once the race takes place on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
- #4 Aeliana
- #2 Lindermann
- #1 Sir Delius
The Chris Waller-trained Aeliana ($1.60F) proved too good for a small field of rivals third-up and fit when narrowly saluting for the punters in the 2026 Ranvet Stakes results at Rosehill. Showing plenty of fight to come from second last on the turn for home and run down stablemate Lindermann, Aeliana also handed jockey James McDonald his record-equalling 129th Group 1 victory. She has now firmed into $2.60 co-favouritism to win the Tancred Stakes back at the track over a mile and a half in seven days’ time, although Waller hasn’t 100% locked in the quick back-up.

Run over 2,000 metres every March at Rosehill Gardens as part of Golden Slipper Day, the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes is a $1,000,000 weight-for-age contest that attracts a quality line-up of gallopers each Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
The Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (formerly the Chipping Norton Stakes) taking place a fortnight earlier makes a nice lead-up into the Ranvet and Contributer (2015), the ill-fated Verry Elleegant (2021), and Via Sistina (2025) are the latest horses to do the double.
The best out of the Ranvet Stakes often head to Randwick during ‘The Championships’ for a shot at the $5 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), a double last completed by the UK raiders Addeybb (2021) and Dubai Honour (2023) followed by Verry Elleegant (2025).
In 2021 Addeybb and last year’s runner-up Verry Elleegant returned to renew their rivalry with Chris Waller’s mare – subsequent winner of that year’s Melbourne Cup race – turning the tables to win the event in a thriller.
Verry Elleegant returned in 2021 to run second as the beaten odds-on favourite in the Ranvet Stakes.
In 2023 the UK’s William Haggas returned to Australia for a second win in the Ranvet training four-and-a-half-length winner Dubai Honour.
Trainer Chris Waller prepared imported mare Via Sistina for her first-up win down under in the 2024 Ranvet Stakes where she beat the fellow Yu Long Investments-raced European expat Place Du Carrousel.
Via Sistina would continue on to win a host more Group 1 events including the 2024 Cox Plate by eight lengths!
She then returned to defend her Ranvet Stakes title in 2025. Via Sistina made the 2025 Ranvet form look even stronger, going on to reel off four Group 1 wins before retiring — highlighted by her Queen Elizabeth Stakes triumph and a stunning Cox Plate–Champions Stakes spring double.
Trainer Chris Waller made it three straight wins in the Ranvet in 2026 with his odds-on favourite Aeliana saluting for the punters.

Which Horse Will Win the Ranvet Stakes in 2026
The best way to pick which horse will win the Ranvet Stakes in 2026 is to take into account their lead-up Group 1 autumn racing form, look for the proven WFA runners and those with a good Sydney race record.
Additional factors to consider when picking the Ranvet Stakes winner include:
- Verry Elleegant Lead-Up: The Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (formerly the Chipping Norton Stakes) held over 1600m a fortnight prior makes a key lead-up into the Ranvet Stakes. Verry Elleegant (2021) and Via Sistina (20250 were the latest to do the double. Aeliana (2nd in 2026) was the last Ranvet Stakes winner to come via the Verry Elleegant Stakes.
- Mares on Top: Since Tuesday Joy (2008) the mares have won the Ranvet Stakes six times with Silent Achiever (2014), Verry Elleegant (2021), Montefilia (2022), Via Sistina (2024 & 2025), and Aeliana (2026).
- Inside Alleys: Few Ranvet Stakes winners have jumped from wider than barrier nine in the past decade or so.
Ranvet Stakes Favourites 2026
Favourites in 2026 Ranvet Stakes betting at time of publish include the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained dual Group 1 winner Sir Delius, Chris Waller’s five-length ATC Derby champ Aeliana, and her stablemate Lindermann out to improve on his last start ninth in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes.
Avilius ($4.40 in 2019), Via Sistina ($2.30 in 2024 & $1.22 in 2025) and Aeliana ($1.60 in 2026) are the latest Ranvet Stakes favourites to salute for the punters and one of 11 to get the job done from 2005-2026.
