Dane Ripper Stakes Tips 2026
Our exclusive Dane Ripper Stakes 2026 betting tips and selections will be detailed here the week of the race as well as on the Neds Blog.

Run over 1,300 metres as of 2021, the Dane Ripper Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place at Eagle Farm Racecourse each Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
Traditionally held as one of the key support acts on Stradbroke Handicap Day, the Dane Ripper Stakes is open only to mares aged four-years-old and above and is a set weights plus penalties event offering $300,000 as of 2023.
The Dane Ripper Stakes serves as the major lead-up into the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara, and Invincibella (2019) was the last to do the double. Invincibella also won the 2018 edition of the Dane Ripper and in 2019 handed trainer Chris Waller with his fourth victory in the event following his earlier success with fellow dual champion Red Tracer (2012, 2013).
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Queensland Racing, a reshuffled Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival saw the Dane Ripper Stakes take place the weekend after the Stradbroke. The race offered a reduced $175,000 in prize money and took place as a weight-for-age event with no running of the Tattersall’s Tiara in 2020.
In 2025 the Dane Ripper Stakes runner-up, Tashi, went on to win the Tiara next start.

Dane Ripper Stakes Barrier Draw 2026
The 2026 Dane Ripper Stakes final field and barriers are announced on Wednesday, June 10. The barrier draw is important for the 1300m race, and bookmakers suspend betting on the morning of the draw.
The final field, draw, and odds are released between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm on the Wednesday before the race. Betting markets are heavily dependent on barrier draws, so the odds can move significantly post-draw.
Dane Ripper Stakes Barrier Statistics
Barrier positions play a key role over 1300 metres, and recent editions of the race highlight their importance.
In 2025, Floozie enjoyed an ideal run from barrier 3 before going on to win, becoming the second horse in three years to score from that gate after Comrade Rosa’s victory in 2023. While C’est Magnique overcame the trend by winning from barrier 8 in 2024, proving success is possible from wider draws, horses generally benefit from starting closer to the rail at Eagle Farm, although track conditions can have a significant influence.
A wide barrier is not necessarily a disadvantage on rain-affected ground, as runners can often shift towards the middle of the track where conditions may be more favourable. Brooklyn Hustle demonstrated this when winning from barrier 10 in 2021. Even so, the strongest historical results in the Dane Ripper have come from barriers 1 to 5, which continue to produce the highest winning strike rate.
Dane Ripper Stakes Favourites 2026
It’s an open field with a loose favourite, which goes to Niance at $6. There are multiple runners vying for favouritism, including Tuilleries and She’s Got Pizzazz.
The Dane Ripper Stakes is always a hotly-contested betting market, and the favourites have a good record in the race. However, the 2026 edition is one of the more open contests in recent history.
It’s a maximum field, so it could be a case of picking your favourite horse and taking the generous odds at Neds.
