History vs money, and money won.
The 2024/25 season was one of total punishment for the Inter Milan faithful.
Napoli clinched the Scudetto on the final day of the season, winning the Serie A by a mere point.
Inter were defeated 3-2 in the Supercoppa Italiana Final by AC Milan after a 93rd-minute strike saw the Rossoneri fight from two goals behind to complete the comeback.
They followed up by dumping Inter out of the Coppa Italia in the Semi-Finals with a thorough 4-1 victory.
And to cap it all off, they let PSG put five goals past them in one of the most one-sided UCL games you will ever see.
If the FIFA Club World Cup was an opportunity to save face, they fumbled it.
A shock 2-0 defeat against Fluminense in the Round of 16 allowed them to finally close the doors on a disastrous season.
With Christian Chivu stepping into the role of Head Coach following the departure of Simone Inzaghi, and the signings of Manuel Akanji from Manchester City, Andy Diouf from Lens, Luis Henrique from Marseille, and Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma, Inter Milan has reloaded with balance ahead of the new season.
And despite no real break, they’ve hit the ground running in the new season.
While their defensive frailties have been exposed in the Serie A so far, with eight goals conceded in seven games (second-worst defensive record in the top half of the league), the Nerazzurri sit second in the league, only one point behind their oldest rivals.
With 18 goals scored so far this season, their forwards are comfortably out-scoring their opponents, with Lauturo Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Marcus Thuram sitting on three Serie A goals each.
In the UCL, where all eyes are on them, Inter are ignoring the critics and delivering in dividends.

Sitting, ironically, behind defending Champions PSG, and Bayern Munich.
They have won all three of their games so far, and most notably, have not conceded a single goal.
Nine goals scored. Zero conceded.

It gets better every week.
Despite the significant psychological blow from last June, the 20-time Italian champions look among the strongest Scudetto contenders so far this season.
And while the UCL remains immensely competitive, Inter can pride themselves on making two of the last three finals.
Maybe the third time will be the charm.
Among their already stacked front-line, the prodigious Francesco Esposito, who Football Manager and EA FC Career Mode experts have been watching closely for years, looks finally to have cemented a regular place in the first team.
The 20-year-old Italian striker, who has been with Inter since youth level, scored his first Serie A goal earlier this season and followed up with his first UCL goal for the club as Inter continue to rise.
One thing is certain: this new-look Inter Milan means business.
With seven consecutive wins in all competitions, Inter look confident, sharp, and fired up!
It might be early days in the 2025/26 season, but they have demons to erase, and they’re moving in the right direction.
