They’re back! After heartbreak in Super Bowl LVII, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are out for revenge in New Orleans.
With plenty of Aussies set to tune in for their one live NFL game of the year on Monday morning, this week will likely involve deciding on which team to barrack for on the day.
For the next few minutes, or however long it takes you to read this blog post, we’re going to lay out a few reasons why you should don whatever Kelly Green gear is in your wardrobe and learn the words to “Fly, Eagles, Fly!” before kickoff.
Saquon Barkley is lit as F***
Saquon Barkley with a backwards hurdle…other-worldly.

This highlight is from back in November should really be all the convincing you need.
The Eagles’ pinched Running Back Saquon Barkley from their divisional rivals in the offseason and have showed them exactly what he can do if you firstly, have good supporting cast around him but also use him properly.
Saquon on the year (regular and post season) has 2,283 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Those numbers are mind blowing and are the reason he will (most likely) win offensive player of the year.
We should see a healthy dose of Saquon in the Super Bowl this year and every time he touches the ball, there is a massive chance something magical like a backwards F***ing hurdle happens.
They’re not the Chiefs
We get it, the Chiefs are really, really good, but isn’t it getting a bit boring seeing them win year after year?
The Eagles have the chance here to spoil the party and we Aussies love an underdog!
Jalen Hurts Finishes His Story
If you’re a fan of the college game, you’ll know all about the story of Jalen Hurts.
He started off with the powerhouse school Alabama and took over the starting job in his second game.
Throughout his first year, he set all sorts of records and guided the Crimson Tide to the National Championship Game, where they lost to Clemson in a classic.
In the following season he took them back to the title game, but was benched for freshman Tua Tagovailoa and was relegated to the backup role for the following year.
Ahead of the 2019 season Hurts transferred to Oklahoma, knowing he needed to play to help his draft stock and produced career highs in passing yards, passing touchdowns and all rushing categories.
It lead to him being drafted by the Eagles, however his rookie season was primarily spent on the bench and when he was in the game, he did not clearly earn the starting job despite some flashes.
"It's a tough city but you ready for it." – @MalcolmJenkins to @JalenHurts after his first-ever win.
Now he's Super Bowl bound 🙌 pic.twitter.com/G1hOyJsk3n

After losing to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII an Eagles win in the Super Bowl here would finish his redemption arc and surely that’s something worth getting behind.
Nick Sirianni’s Facial Expressions
One of the more underated charaters in the NFL Coaching carousel at the moment, Sirianni is always somewhat memeable.
Nick Sirianni was moved to tears during the national anthem 🙏 #SBLVII

He’s already gone viral for chirping at Chiefs fans.

What will we get from him in this game?
Jordan Mailata
“I was wondering what would break first… Your spirit, or your body.”

“dId YoU kNoW jOrDaN mAiLaTa PlAyEd RuGbY”
🥴
Maybe the most done to death NFL narrative in this country but we have an Australian in the league and he’s one of the best at his position in the league as well.
It’s insufferable hearing the NFL commentators call him a “rugby player” despite Mailata coming through the Rabbitohs development system before being picked up and turned into an O-Lineman but at least the US are trying to give our sports a shout out?
HE PLAYED RUGBY LEAGUE NOT RUGBY.
Sorry I don’t know what came over me.
Stupid Americans aside, seeing an Aussie win a Super Bowl ring this week and potentially creating the hole for Saquon to run the winning TD through is enough to get us all up and about surely.
The Fans Know How to Celebrate
Buffalo might have the most famous fan base when it comes to going wild, but the Eagles fans celebrations are right up there.
This is after they made Super Bowl LII, not won it, that was still two weeks away…
City workers in Philadelphia greased many of the city’s light poles to prevent Eagles fans from climbing them after the NFC Championship game. It looks like these happy fans were up for the challenge. https://t.co/Jqou2RxP08 pic.twitter.com/r0E1vzQ0CY

No idea how they are planning to reinforce the bus stops next week though…

Actually, these fans are going to go off win or lose but the win is going to be a lot funnier.
Some of Your Favourite Shows Involve Philadelphia
Remember Jim Halpert, the loveable prankster from The Office?
Eagles fan.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia involved life in… you guessed it, Philadelphia.
We’ve even seen a few Eagles players on IASIP with Jason Kelce starring in the episode based around their Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
