The Hall Mark Stakes is a Group 3 sprint conducted over 1200m at Royal Randwick Racecourse each April on all Aged Stakes Day.

Open to horses aged three-years-old and above, the event is run at set weights plus penalties and offers $250,000 in prize money.

First run in 1978 the event makes a nice end-of-autumn target for quality sprinters that could be heading to Brisbane for the winter carnival or ready to spell ahead of the spring.

The Hall Mark Stakes is named in honour of the great galloper Hall Mark who won a host of feature races between 1933-35 including the: Australian Derby, Victoria Derby, Melbourne Cup and Doncaster Handicap.

Originally a mile race, the event has been run over its current six-furlong distance since 1980, and it gained Group 3 status in 2014 the year popular mare Hot Snitzel won.

Plenty of nice horses have won the Hall Mark Stakes over the years including most famously subsequent dual The Everest champion Redzel in 2017.

Mazu made history in 2026 becoming the first three-time Hall Mark Stakes winner.

The 2026 Hall Mark Stakes takes place as part of 2026 All Aged Stakes Day at Royal Randwick running on Saturday, April 18, 2026. The meeting features six Group races in total with the Hall Mark Stakes held on the same day as the:
