Futurity Stakes 2026 Results
The official 2026 Futurity Stakes results will be available below once the race takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
- #1 Pericles
- #2 Buckaroo
- #7 Treasurethe Moment
Pericles ($5.50) set himself up for a clash with the fellow Godolphin raced Tom Kitten in next month’s Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington after returning an impressive first-up winner in the 2026 Futurity Stakes results at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Day. In his first run since placing second to Ceolwulf in the spring’s Champions Mile (1600m) at HQ, Pericles put the writing on the wall for a big autumn when given a perfectly timed ride by big race specialist Craig Williams to charge down the heavily backed favourite Treasurethe Moment and secure his first elite-level success at his 16th start.

Run over 1,400 metres in late February as part of Blue Diamond Stakes Day, the Futurity Stakes is a Group 1 race, traditionally held at Caulfield Racecourse.
Offering a $750,000 prize purse as of 2023, the event is one of three elite level races at the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival meeting that is headlined by the two-year-olds running in the Group 1 $2 million Blue Diamond Stakes.
The Futurity Stakes is a weight-for-age event and previously served as a nice next-up option for horses out of the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes held at the same track and distance a fortnight earlier before the Orr was moved to November in 2025. Black Heart Bart (2017) and Mr Brightside (2024) are the latest runners to complete the CF Orr – Futurity Stakes double in the same year.
The best out of the Futurity Stakes may continue onto the now Group 1 The All-Star Mile (1600m) held at various racetracks throughout Melbourne in March.
Tom Kitten (2nd in 2025) was the last Futurity Stakes graduate to go and win the All-Star Mile.
In 2023 the All-Star Mile was won by Mr Brightside who came off a second in the Futurity Stakes results and went on to win the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) in Sydney as well that autumn.
Mr Brightside won the 2024 Futurity Stakes on his way to second in that year’s All-Star Mile quinella.
Mr Brightside returned to defend his title in the Futurity Stakes 2025 going back-too-back for the first time since Niconero (2008-09).

|---|---|
| Win Bet | Place your bet on the horse you think will take first place in this year’s Futurity Stakes. |
| Place Bet | Place your bet on the horse you think will place in the top three finishers at this year’s Futurity Stakes. Pays less than a win bet but offers safer odds. |
| Each-Way Bet | If your runner finishes 1st in the Futurity Stakes, you will collect both the Win and the Place dividend. If your horse finishes 2nd or 3rd you will collect the Place dividend. |
| Quinella Bet | You must select the runners that finish 1st and 2nd in any order, within the Futurity Stakes, in order to win the Quinella. |

Which Horse Will Win the Futurity Stakes in 2026
The best way to pick which horse will win the Futurity Stakes in 2026 is to take into account their lead-up autumn racing form, assess the barriers, consider the weight the horse will carry and look for past performers over the 1400m at the track.
Additional factors to consider when picking the Futurity Stakes winner include:
- Last Start Winners – Horses coming off a lead-up win have dominated the recent Futurity Stakes results. Alligator Blood (2023) who won first-up having saluted in the Group 1 Champions Mile the spring prior followed by CF Orr winner Mr Brightside (2024) are the latest last start winners to take out the Futurity.
- Barriers – Few Futurity Stakes winners have jumped from wider than barrier nine over the event’s history. Mr Brightside (barrier 10 in 2025) however bucked the trend overcoming a wide alley for his second success.
Futurity Stakes Favourites 2026
Favourites in 2026 Futurity Stakes betting include four-time Group 1 winning mare Treasurethe Moment, the Bjorn Baker trained Pericles set for his third Futurity Stakes bid, and Lindsay Park’s always honest four-year-old Evaporate.
Alizee ($2.80 in 2019), Probabeel ($3.50EF in 2021), Alligator Blood ($2.80 in 2023), and Mr Brightside ($1.50 in 2024 and $1.70 in 2025) are the latest Futurity Stakes favourites to win.
