The Bobbie Lewis Quality is a Group 2 sprint race held down the famous Flemington ‘Straight Six’, the 1200m dash contested under quality handicap conditions by horses aged four-years-old and above as part of the Makybe Diva Stakes Day card.
Held in mid-September each Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the Bobbie Lewis Quality has held Group 2 status since 2015, now offers $300,000 and serves as a nice lead-up to the Group 1 spring sprint races including the Group 1 VRC Sprint Classic (1200m) over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
In 2022 the mare Roch ‘N’ Horse improved on her second in the Bobbie Lewis Quality to continue on and win the VRC Sprint Classic, run that year as the Champions Sprint, while the Bobbie Lewis winner Baller ran third in the Group 1.
The 2024 Bobbie Lewis Quality also produced a subsequent Group 1 winning sprinter in Melbourne with the mare Skybird, who and run second in the spring event, returning to blow her rivals away at huge odds in the 2025 Black Caviar Lighting in the autumn!
Arkansaw Kid became the latest two-time Bobbie Lewis Quality winner with a successful title defence in 2025.
