Continue your weekday punting with our Royal Ascot best bets on Day 1 of the Carnival, highlighting the key runners who are ready to help you end the week right.

Ascot: Race 1 – Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (1609m)
No. 9 Zeus Olympios
Each Way

ZEUS OLYMPIOS (9) is hard fit and ready to run a nice race third-up. Like a few others, he’s been competing in tougher company this prep, finding the cash in two runs over the mile at Sandown and Newbury leading in. Draws to get a little more running room this time away from the fence and is a definite each-way chance at odds.

Third-up today and won third-up in the past. First-up 3rd in a small field at Sandown Park in the G2 Sandown Mile on April 24 over 1600m, 4 len behind Opera Ballo carrying 60kg at $4.30. Second-up 3rd of 10 at Newbury in the G1 Lockinge Stakes on May 16 over 1600m, 2.75 len behind Notable Speech carrying 58kg at $5. Others read better. Could feature if showing best form.

Ascot: Race 3 – Group 1 King Charles III Stakes (1005m)
No. 9 Overpass

OVERPASS (9) looks hard to beat on recent form. He’s been kept fresh for his last effort in the TJ Smith Stakes when two lengths off Joliestar and typically flies first-up with four wins and just as many placings to his name from 11 starts. He’s drawn a very wide alley but maps to get forward early in running and set himself up for a big dash home.

Resuming. Finished off last campaign sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 4th of 9 at Randwick in the G1 T J Smith on April 4 over 1200m, on a slow track; 2 len behind Joliestar with 58.5kg at $16. First up last campaign 4th of 12 at Randwick in the G1 Everest on October 18 over 1200m, 1.5 len behind Ka Ying Rising with 58.5kg at $41. Holds big claims on UK debut.

Ascot: Race 4 – Group 1 St James’ Palace Stakes (1603m)
No. 1 Bow Echo
Tip of The Day

Unbeaten colt BOW ECHO (1) is tough to fault. He’s won four on the trot leading in and was devastatingly good in the 2000 Guineas Stakes last start, dropping right back in the run before unleashing with a powerful turn of foot to go nearly three lengths clear. With improvement still to come second-up, he’ll be very hard to beat in this small field.

Looking to keep his unbeaten record intact. Resumed last start won by 2.75 len at Newmarket (Rowley) G1 2000 Guineas May 2 over 1600m defeating Gstaad with 58kg at $5.50. Leading contender.

Ascot: Race 7 – Copper Horse Stakes (2847m)
No. 10 Valiancy

VALIANCY (10) looks to have turned a serious corner for William Haggas and company. The wide gate is a slight concern, but he was a dominant winner last time out over slightly shorter where he saved his best for late. If he can find cover around midfield again and launch late, he’ll be a deserving winner of his hat trick.

Second-up. First-up after nine months favourite; won by 1.3 len at Hamilton Park May 17 over 2600m defeating Ghaiyya with 61kg at $2.30. Previously second-up ran on from midfield; 2nd of 10 at Haydock Park on May 30 2025 over 2400m, 0.5 len behind Pole Star with 56.5kg at $4.50. Big chance to register the hat-trick. Improver who can measure up again.
