Toy Show Quality, Randwick

Run over 1,100 metres (reduced from a previous distance of 1,300m), the Toy Show Quality is a Group 3 race taking place at Randwick Racecourse. With a $160,000 prize purse, the event is open to fillies and mares under quality handicap conditions. 

Although this race currently takes place at Randwick Racecourse, it has had a varied history which also included being held at Warwick Farm and Canterbury Park.

From it’s inaugural race until 2012, this race was held as a Listed race. Since 2013, it has held Group 3 status.

The Toy Show Quality is named in honour of the outstanding filly and 1975 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Toy Show.

Other races held on the same day at Randwick include the Winx Stakes, the Silver Shadow Stakes and the Show County Quality.

The 2020 Toy Show Quality field attracted 11 final acceptors led in betting by the Brad Widdup-trained Adelong coming off a hat-trick of wins. John Thompson’s classy Group winning mare Sweet Deal resumes in the race and is the danger in gate five, but carries plenty of weight with 59kg.

Update: #8 Witherspoon (4) from the Kris Waller stable has been scratched from the Toy Show Quality 2020 field in favour of a run against Brooklyn Hustle in Melbourne’s Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at The Valley on Saturday.
