Run over 1,100 metres (reduced from a previous distance of 1,300m), the Toy Show Quality is a Group 3 race taking place at Randwick Racecourse. With a $250,000 prize purse as of 2023, the event is open to fillies and mares under quality handicap conditions.
Although this race currently takes place at Randwick Racecourse, it has had a varied history which also included being held at Warwick Farm and Canterbury Park.
From it’s inaugural race until 2012, this race was held as a Listed race. Since 2013, it has held Group 3 status.
The Toy Show Quality is named in honour of the outstanding filly and 1975 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Toy Show.
Other races held on the same day at Randwick include the Winx Stakes, the Silver Shadow Stakes and the Show County Quality.
The event serves as a nice lead-up into the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes and Mizzy (2019) was the last mare to do the double.
The 2020 Toy Show Quality winner Sweet Deal went on to frank the form winning the lucrative $1 million The Hunter at Newcastle later that spring.
