Run over 2,400 metres each autumn in late March at Rosehill Gardens, the Group 1 Tancred Stakes is a $1.5 million feature formerly known as The BMW.
If you’re looking for a nice lead up to this race, look no further than the Ranvet Stakes taking place two weeks earlier on Golden Slipper Day, has produced many recent Tancred Stakes winners including Sir Dragonet (4th in 2021) and Verry Elleegant (2nd) in 2020. The year before, Avilius (2019) became the latest horse to complete the Ranvet – Tancred Stakes double.
The winner of this race is exempt from the ballot of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes as well as the Sydney Cup.
