Run over 1,100 metres during February each year, the Silver Slipper Stakes is a Group 2 race held as part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. With a $300,000 prize purse, it attracts some of the best two-year-olds nationwide and offers the winner a ballot free ride into the iconic Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes, which takes place a fortnight later.

She Will Reign (2017) and Farnan (2020) are the latest horses to do the Silver Slipper Stakes – Golden Slipper double as two-year-olds.

In 2025, upset Silver Slipper winner Beiwacht proved the boilover was the real deal, returning in spring to claim the Group 1 Golden Rose. The form stacked up even further with third‑placed Wodeton, who went on to finish runner‑up in both the Golden Slipper and Golden Rose later that season.
