Classy young Street Boss filly Motorsports ($4F) announced herself as a rising sprint star with victory in the 2025 Blue Sapphire Stakes results at Caulfield on Saturday.
Trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy and ridden by Harry Coffey, the three-year-old produced a powerful performance in the Group 3 feature. Settling just off the speed, Motorsports unleashed a decisive burst in the straight to overhaul the leaders coming right down the outside in the final furlong to score impressively for favourite backers.
The win marked her first black-type success and underlined her potential to progress to higher level races in the autumn having earlier broken her maiden status the run prior at Pakenham.

Run over 1,200 metres the Blue Sapphire Stakes is a Group 3 race taking place at Caulfield Racecourse on Zipping Classic Day now held at the end of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
In 2023 and 2024 the distance was increased from 1200m to 1400m before reverting back to six-furlongs ahead of the 2025 edition.
The sprint race for three-year-olds recently moved to November and now runs on the same day as the popular Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m) race.
Starting out as a Listed Race, this race has held Group 3 status since 2016 and is contested at set weights.
Horses that do well in this race previously continued onto Flemington’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on Derby Day, with Flying Artie (2016) the last to do the Blue Sapphire – Coolmore Stud Stakes double.
As of 2023 the Blue Sapphire Stakes now runs after the Coolmore and currently offers $250,000 after prize money was cut in half ahead of the 2025 edition.
