Run over 1,600 metres, the event formerly known as the Sunshine Coast Guineas is a Group 3 race taking place at Corbould Park Racecourse on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast each winter.
In 2020 the race was renamed the Winx Guineas in honour of its most iconic winner, superstar mare Winx who won the race as a three-year-old in 2015. It is the second race named after the champion four-time Cox Plate winner along with the Group 1 Winx Stakes that opens elite level racing in August each season.
The race is open to three-year-olds and takes place at set weights.
For the 2020 edition the Winx Guineas offered a reduced $125,000 in prize money due to the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Australian racing. It received a prize money boost in 2021 and is now worth $300,000 as of 2023.
