Thousand Guineas Winners

From the race’s inauguration back in 1946 right through until 2025 we have a complete list of past Thousand Guineas winners. View every previous Thousand Guineas champion throughout history, plus extra details including the jockeys, trainers and barriers of all the Thousand Guineas winners going back to the year 2000.

The Thousand Guineas was first run in 1945 and Sweet Chime was the inaugural winner of the three-year-old fillies’ feature.

The 1960 Thousand Guineas winner Wenona Girl 15 races that would eventually be graded Group 1 over her career including completing the 1960 Rosehill Guineas – Flight Stakes double.

The most recent fillies to complete the Flight Stakes – Thousand Guineas double are Goleen (1984), Dashing Eagle (1996), Guelph (2013) and Global Glamour (2016).

There were two Thousand Guineas winners in 1963 with Heirloom and Anna Rose running a dead heat.

In 2004 the Thousand Guineas was won by that year’s Blue Diamond Stakes champion Alinghi.

Miss Finland won the 2006 Golden Slipper Stakes – Thousand Guineas double before her VRC Oaks success that spring.

Along with Miss Finland (2006) the fillies to complete the Thousand Guineas – VRC Oaks double over the past 50 years are: Special Harmony (2003), Magical Miss (2001), Northwood Plume (1994), Arborea (1993), Richfield Lady (1991), Tristanagh (1989), Rom’s Stiletto (1982), Brava Jeannie (1979) and Toltrice (1972).

Other standout Thousand Guineas winning fillies include Yosei (2010), Atlantic Jewel (2011) and Flit (2019).

The 2022 Thousand Guineas winner was the Chris Waller-trained Sydney raider Madame Pommery ($9.50) who improved on a lead-up sixth in the Flight Stakes to win the mid-week Group 1 in Melbourne.

The 2023 Thousand Guineas winner was again prepared by Chris Waller with the progressive Zoustar filly Joliestar ($4.60) charging to the lead 150m out before flying home for a big 1.5 length victory with James McDonald in the saddle.

The 2024 Thousand Guineas winner was the Ciaron Maher-trained Another Prophet ($31) who was ridden to an upset victory by Ethan Brown.

The 2025 Thousand Guineas winner was three-year-old Ole Kirk filly Ole Dancer ($5) for trainers Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman with jockey Blake Shinn aboard on 56kg from barrier 5 to win by 0.35 lengths on a Good (4) track in a time of 1:37.83.
