The Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes is a handicap event taking place at Caulfield Racecourse in September during the early stages of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

It was briefly moved from its September time slot ahead to run in November in 2023 and 2024 before returning to the Underwood Stakes Day card again in 2025. 

Originally known as the Invitation Stakes, and still registered with this name, it has progressed through a range of names based on various sponsorships. Its current name is in honour of Sir Rupert Clarke, former chairman of the Victorian Amateur Turf Club. 

Offering $1 million in prize money, the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes runs over 1400m and has been won by plenty of nice types over the years including Manikato (1978), Encosta De Lago (1996), Exceed And Excel (2003), and more recently Begood Toya Mother (2019).
