Run over 1,200 metres, the Robert Sangster Stakes is a Group 1 race taking place at Morphettville Racecourse in late April or early May each year as part of the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival.
The weight-for-age feature offers $1,000,000 in prize money as of 2024 and is open only to fillies and mares.
This race serves as an excellent lead into The Goodwood, taking place at the same track two weeks later and Black Caviar (2012) and Platelet (2013) are the latest mares to complete the Robert Sangster Stakes – The Goodwood double.
The 2024 Robert Sangster Stakes form was franked with the third placed Benedetta going on to win that year’s The Galaxy while the Robert Sangster winner Climbing Star ran third in The Goodwood trifecta.
Charm Stone made the 2025 Robert Sangster form look even stronger later that year, returning in spring to knock off the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at The Valley.
