The Kewney Stakes – also known as the A.V. Kewney Stakes – is a Group 2 race run at Flemington Racecourse in early March on Newmarket Handicap Day during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.
Contested over 1,600m at set weights, the race is open only to three-year-old fillies and makes a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) with Treasurethe Moment (2025) the last to do the double.
The Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick during The Championships is another potential option for Kewney Stakes graduates with Autumn Angel (2024) and Treasurethe Moment (2025) the latest two fillies to do the double.
