The card features the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) for speedsters and the newly established $500,000 The Coast, a showcase for three and four-year-olds.
The Gosford Gold Cup itself tests horses over a challenging 2100m (2200m in 2024) distance. This quality handicap race dates back to 1961, originally run over 10 furlongs (approximately 2000m). Adding to the race’s prestige, the winner and runner-up each year earn valuable eligibility for Sydney’s The Big Dance on Melbourne Cup Day.
