OVER THE BRIDGE (13) is our best bet with Thousand Guineas tips, with the unbeaten filly bringing plenty of upside into the Group 1 contest.

The Ciaron Maher-trained runner has won both career starts, including a narrow victory in the Group 3 Scarborough Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield. She has shown a sharp turn of foot and the ability to find the line strongly, suggesting there could be further improvement to come.

Mark Zahra retains the ride, which is a positive, and she is bred to handle the rise in distance. Punters get value each-way odds, and she should give punters a sight down the outside in the straight at Caulfield.

DE ARMAS (7) has drifted in betting markets, but her Sydney form suggests that she has the class to compete strongly at Caulfield.

The Chris Waller-trained filly finished second in the Group 1 Flight Stakes over 1600m at Randwick, going down narrowly to Global Goal. That performance is an important form reference, as she has already demonstrated her ability to run out a strong mile at the highest level.

William Pike takes the ride from barrier 7, and she has plenty of things in her favour. Unlike several rivals stepping up in distance, she has already shown she can handle the mile, and Waller knows how to train a Group 1 winner.

PLATINUM PEARL (12) is our best roughie for the Thousand Guineas, offering a good price for punters searching for an upset.

The Maher-trained filly has shown encouraging signs in her early career, recording three consecutive placings before heading into this Group 1 assignment. Although she has yet to break through for a win, those efforts suggest she has some ability and could be capable of improving against stronger opposition.

The step up to 1600m provides an opportunity to show whether she can develop into a genuine stakes-level miler. With the right tempo and a patient ride, she could finish better than her odds suggest.

We’re not too concerned by the betting drift. Most runners have drifted with the money coming for Saintly Dancer, and $21 could boost payouts in a big way.
