  1. #2 Ninja
  2. #3 Napoleonic
  3. #1 Angel Capital

Ninja ($5) launched the new season with a statement win in Saturday’s Group 2 2026 Missile Stakes results at Randwick, producing a race‑record 1:08.28 and surging into The Everest calculations after sitting outside the speed, taking control at the 250m and putting a classy field away with authority. Tommy Berry’s well‑timed ride saw the Freedman sprinter settle behind Way To The Stars before unleashing a sharp turn of foot to beat Napoleonic, with Angel Capital closing late for third as the beaten favourite. Now a five‑time winner from nine starts and still improving, Ninja’s first‑up performance has him firming in Everest betting markets and firmly on the radar for upcoming spring targets, including a possible tilt at the Group 1 Winx Stakes (August 22) as connections plot a campaign worthy of his rising profile.

2026 Missile Stakes Odds & Finishing Order

The 2026 Missile Stakes odds are already firming as punters target Sydney’s first major Group 2 sprint of the new season, with early Missile Stakes odds 2026 markets highlighting sharp first‑up performers, proven short‑course specialists and stables looking to launch their spring campaigns. As always, the Missile Stakes betting 2026 markets often represent nice early carnival value thanks to Randwick’s 1200m tempo, fitness edges and reliable winter‑to‑spring form lines. With market movers, speed‑map pressure and stables eyeing bigger and better upcoming spring targets all shaping prices on the leading Missile Stakes 2026 contenders in the lead‑up, this year’s edition promises another high‑quality contest — making it a prime early spring punting target for Neds punters chasing a nice kick-start to the season.

The latest Missile Stakes 2026 odds followed by the official race finishing order after the event will be available below.

Run over 1,200 metres, the Missile Stakes is a Group 2 race traditionally taking place at either Rosehill Gardens Racecourse or Royal Randwick (2026 location). Open to three-year-olds and above the event is run at set weights plus penalties and attracts a quality line-up of spring-bound sprinters.

A number of turf stars have won the Missile Stakes over the years including Lonhro (2002), Pierata (2018), Alizee (2019), and Eduardo (2020) who went on to win the Group 1 The Galaxy and Group 1 Doomben 10,000 in 2021.

The Missile Stakes now serves as a potential lead-up and form race into the $20 million The Everest (1200m) at Randwick in October.

There was no Missile Stakes race held in 2025 after the abandoned race meeting was ultimately cancelled.

Which Horse Will Win the Missile Stakes in 2026?

The best way to pick which horse will win the Missile Stakes in 2026 is to take into account any lead-up form, assess the Missile Stakes barriers, and look at the weights.

Additional factors to consider when selecting the Missile Stakes winner include:

  • Local Experience – Horses that race well at Randwick and Rosehill should have the advantage.
  • Autumn Lead Up – If there are any horses that did well in the Randwick Guineas who have entered the field, they are worth taking a closer look at.
  • First-Up – Most spring sprinters are resuming in the Missile Stakes so looking for the best first-up performers is key. I Am Me (2023), Schwarz (2024) and Ninja (2026) are the latest first-up Missile Stakes winners.

Missile Stakes Favourites 2026

Alizee ($1.30 in 2019), Eduardo ($2.30 in 2020), I Am Me ($2.40 in 2023), and Schwarz ($2.50 in 2024) are the latest favourites in Missile Stakes betting to salute for the punters.

Favourites for the 2026 Missile Stakes (at time of publish) include Chris Waller’s talented Harry Angel entire Angel Capital out to secure a deserved Group 1 this spring, first-up specialist Gangsta Granny drawn the rails and the Michael Freedman-trained Ninja who boasts a 50% winning strike rate from his eight starts ahead of this campaign.
