We have Roman Consul Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 2 1200m race at Rosehill on Saturday.
Roman Consul Stakes odds are available, and it’s a close race for favouritism between Paradoxium and Satono Glow.
Paradoxium should be tough to beat with Roman Consul Stakes predictions, and that’s why he’s the favourite.
The Bjorn Baker-trained colt returned in magnificent order first-up, winning the Group 3 Poseidon Stakes at Flemington. He showed plenty of speed to lead throughout and was strong enough to hold off his rivals over 1100m.
The rise to 1200m looks ideal, with Paradoxium having already won the Group 2 Todman Stakes over this distance last preparation. He also gets a major advantage from barrier 2, allowing Jason Collett to settle him on speed without having to spend too much early energy.
He has already been well backed in the Roman Consul Stakes market, firming from $3.50 into $2.80 before settling around the current $2.60 mark. He looks the safest option in our Roman Consul Stakes tips.
| 1. Paradoxium (2) J: Jason Collett 56.5kg 106×1 T: Bjorn Baker | |||
| Second run back. First-up after five months won by 1.0 len in the G3 Poseidon Stakes at Flemington on September 12 over 1100m defeating Mbube with 58.5kg at $3.50. Previously second-up 11th of 16 in the G1 Golden Slipper at this track on March 21 over 1200m, on a slow track; 5 len behind Guest House with 56.5kg at $13. Back in good order and hard to stop from the draw. | |||
Satono Glow is the runner worth including in picks after scoring impressively at Flemington last start. The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained filly was very impressive winning the Cap D’Antibes Stakes over 1100m, and now steps up to 1200m at Rosehill.
She has won three of her four starts and brings plenty of upside into this Group 2 contest. The 54.5kg is another major positive, especially against the 56.5kg carried by the other runners.
She also gets Zac Lloyd aboard, and although barrier 10 isn’t ideal, he should have enough time to find cover before they settle into the race.
The 3YO filly has been well supported in the market, and she looks like the main danger to Paradoxium. The odds are fair, and the two favourites could run the quinella without much danger.
| 14. Satono Glow (9) J: Zac Lloyd 54.5kg 114×1 T: John O’shea & Tom Charlton | |||
| Second-up. First-up after five months won by 0.5 len in the G3 Cap D’Antibes Stakes at Flemington on September 12 over 1100m defeating Over Excited with 58.5kg at $7. Previously second-up came from midfield and won by 3 len in the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Flemington on March 28 over 1200m on a heavy track defeating Salann with 56kg at $4.20. Sharp filly with the class to overcome the wide draw. | |||
Castillo King looked good when winning on debut, and although his two runs since have been only fair, he could bounce back in a big way.
The 3YO colt by Farnan ran fifth behind Warwoven last time out, who is the favourite to win the Caulfield Guineas. That’s a good form guide, and he only needs a bit of luck from the wide barrier to figure in the finish.
We expect Tommy Berry to settle him back in the ruck, and if the gaps open in the straight, he could power past them at nice odds.
| 3. Castillo King (10) J: Tommy Berry 56.5kg 145 T: Michael Freedman | |||
| Last start 5th of 11 in a G2 The Run To The Rose at this track on September 12 over 1200m, 2.25 len behind Warwoven with 55kg at $15. The start before that 4th of 13 in a LR The Rosebud at this track on August 15 over 1100m, slow going 2.5 len behind Chilly Girl with 54.5kg at $5. Comes back a level but can’t draw a gate, place best. | |||
Punters get value odds with our Roman Consul Stakes SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Paradoxium Top 2, Satono Glow Top 2, and Castillo King Top 4, which pays $7.50 for our three-runner SRM.
This bet requires the favourites to run the quinella, but they look like standout bets. We also have Castillo King running in the Top 4, and he should come through for punters.
