We’ve had a month of NFL football, how bad up is your fantasy team? Mine’s horrendous thanks for asking.
Week 5 is here and so are bye weeks, there is still plenty of NFL to go round this week including a London game so let’s get stuck in hey.
Here is my preview of Week 5 of the 2026/27 NFL season.
We are kicking off with what I reckon is one of the most one-sided Thursday night football games we will see all year. When they put the schedule out, I don’t think anyone was expecting the Bucs to be THIS bad.
The Cowboys are rolling after a big one last week, CeeDee had a million catches and Dallas has the second highest scoring offence in the league. The only thing stopping this being a blowout on the scoreboard is that the Dallas defence is still Swiss cheese, the over is 4-0 in their games this year. So I am not touching the big line, I just want the points and I want CeeDee to feast.
Off to London we go and the Eagles are an absolute are a shell of who they usually are. Not suiting up this week is Lane Johnson (retired), Dickerson, Jurgens (traded), DeVonta Smith, Goedert, Saquon, Bigsby, the list goes on. That is a brutal sheet to be carrying across the Atlantic.
The Jags are humming and Trevor Lawrence looks like a surgeon out there. I know a 7 and a half point line is the high end but I think Jacksonville win this and win it clear.
The Bengals receiver room is held together with tape right now, Chase in concussion protocol and Tee Higgins has some sort of an adductor situation. With a bye coming in Week 6, I wonder if they play it a bit cautious.
The total has dropped from 48 and a half all the way to 42 and a half which tells you everything. I am not game to back the Bengals result given how banged up they are, so I just want the overs and I am loading up on Chase Brown, who should get fed on the ground against a Miami run defence that isn’t anything special.
The Vikings might be the worst 4-0 team we have ever seen. They are 28th in EPA per play and dead last in success rate. 4-0 and I still don’t trust them an inch.
But the Saints let in FIVE rushing touchdowns last week, so even this stuttering Vikings offence should be able to move it. If they win it’s by at least a field goal anyway so I am happy taking the short line and leaning on Aaron Jones.
I liked the Raiders here as value, then I saw that Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) didn’t practise. That is a big deal for a New England secondary that has been their strength.
I have been on the Raiders upset train since Week 3 and I am staying on it. Jeanty has the yards but no rushing touchdowns yet, 206 yards at 3.3 a carry isn’t fantastic in four weeks, HOWEVER I am backing the talent to correct that here.
Jayden Daniels is back from that dislocated elbow, albeit in a bulkier brace, and there is rain about for this NFC East clash. The Giants are 3-1 but I am telling you that is fool’s gold, I am not buying Famous Jameis for a second even though I love him as a human being.
Washington handle this at home.
No Caleb Williams and the Bears are STILL road favourites at Lambeau. That should tell you how much I rate what Ben Johnson is building. I trust Tyson Bagent to manage it and I am not getting off the Bears train now.
Kyle Monangai has been a revelation, 324 yards at 5.4 a carry with 3 touchdowns, so I am taking a swing on him finding paydirt again.
I do not care about this game and neither should you. This one is going to be shocking. One market, move on with your life.
Right, these are my biggest plays of the week. Jonathan Taylor is the best player on this field and I just know he’ll find a way to get it done.
I smell an upset here and I reckon it’s off the back of JT and Warren.
Roman Wilson is also slowly building some serious connection with Rodgers, I’d be jumping on him now before the bookies clue in.
Another one I don’t want to watch. The Jets are short favourites here on my screen and I am just taking them and backing Braelon Allen to do the heavy lifting on the ground while Breece Hall is banged up.
I am tired of pretending Bo Nix is a good quarterback. And honestly Herbert has been just as bad. Neither of these offences gives me a spark, so I am not backing a winner, I just want the unders and to get out of here.
I will have one little fantasy-bias dart on Waddle to find the end zone, don’t judge me.
This is my game of the week and I just want the over so it doesn’t get spoiled. Sam Darnold is questionable with a soft-tissue thing but the hip is fine, I am betting he plays.
Two good teams, points on the board, give me all of it.
I don’t think the Lions are that good this year and their pass defence is the worst in the league, full stop. Every QB that has played them has gone for 300, Bryce and Tet carved them up last week for Carolina.
So I think Brissett and the Cardinals can do some damage. Do I think Arizona are good enough to actually win? No. But Michael Wilson should eat against this secondary.
The Lamar injury is massive here and the bookies know it, the line has swung nine points. Without Lamar this Ravens team stutters, and I am learning quick that the Falcons with Michael Penix can get it done, especially with Bijan doing what he’s doing.
I think this game is nothing but rushing. Give me both Henry and Bijan to have big days and the Falcons to cover.
We finish on Monday night and I actually think Buffalo are the much better team here. The Rams are not living up to the hype and even though Buffalo have had some ugly games, that Chargers game was rough, they still get the job done.
I think Josh Allen and the boys really give it to the Rams. Kincaid broke my heart last week but I am backing the bounce-back, and how do you look past James Cook with Garrett off the Rams edge?
