Gimcrack Stakes 2026 Betting Tips, Predictions & Favourites

The 2YO filly by Yes Yes Yes has a good chance of making a winning debut in the Gimcrack Stakes, and the early betting support looks justified.

She has the benefit of two trials under her belt, including a win at Cranbourne and a second placing at Randwick-Kensington behind Runaway Diva. That should be a good form guide for this race, and James McDonald has picked her to ride.

She is bred to show early speed, so that’s in her favour, and although her odds touched $4.50 at one stage throughout the week, she looks to have settled nicely at $4.80, which is about where she should start on race day.

Barrier 5 should ensure that she gets every chance, and McDonald knows how to best ride in the hectic races, so having him on board helps her chances.

The two-year-old filly by Exceedance has drawn the inside barrier, which could prove a major advantage if she can absorb the early speed and be placed into the race at the right time. It’s likely to be a mad dash for the front, but from the inside draw, she won’t need to work around horses.

She showed good barrier speed in her trials and looks bred to be tough. She’ll need to call on that toughness late to hold off her rivals, but there is enough value in her current odds to warrant including her in the selections.

John Thompson trains Enfield, who could motor home for punters in the Gimcrack Stakes on Saturday.

The well-bred daughter of Snitzel wasn’t far behind Shraddha in a recent trial at Randwick-Kensington, and she wasn’t asked for much in the run to the line. That is a good preparation trial for this race, so punters should be confident.

Having Nash Rawiller riding is another positive. Like McDonald, he has a good record in juvenile races, and he knows how to read the race correctly. Rawiller has 13 wins from his last 50 rides, so he has made a good start to his season.
