We have Edward Manifold Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 2 1600m race at Flemington on Saturday.
Edward Manifold Stakes odds are out, and it’s an even betting field for the middle-distance event.
Our Edward Manifold Stakes predictions have PORTINARI (12) being tough to beat, despite running fourth against a similar field last start.
The 3YO filly by Home Affairs has a stack of fitness on her side this preparation, and she deserves a winning turn. She hasn’t had the best luck in her races, and barrier 15 doesn’t help, but she has time to find cover from out wide.
The Hayes boys have a big opinion of her, and although she has lacked the finishing burst needed to put the opposition away, that could change in this race. There isn’t much covering this field, and a good Mark Zahra ride could be enough to turn the tables in her favour on Saturday afternoon.

There has been solid betting support for PROFLIGATE (7), who is nearing her peak performance following a third placing behind Icelady.
We liked the way she fought bravely to the line, and although no match for the winner, going from Caulfield to Flemington should help her chances of winning, as the long straight gives her time to warm up.
The Grahame Begg stable is having a fine run this season, and if there is good betting support for his runners, it pays to take notice. She has remained firm at around $5 all week, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see a flood of late money come for the current favourite.
She can’t be left out of Edward Manifold Stakes tips.
| 3. Profligate (9) Scratched: | |||
She showed her ability early on in Sydney before struggling to regain her form. However, after winning at Ballarat last start, she is back to her best, and that’s a big danger for the rest of this field.
The 3YO filly is only rated at 68, but she has more promise than most runners in this field. Her turn-of-foot is impressive, and she will likely be forced back from barrier 16, but if she gets a back to follow, she’ll finish better than most.
The $16 odds are generous, and she could boost dividends in a big way in the Edward Manifold Stakes.
| 6. La Barrita (16) Scratched: | |||
Punters get value odds with our Edward Manifold Stakes SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Portinari Top 3, Profligate Top 4, and La Barrita Top 5, which pays $16.00 for our three-runner SRM.
Punters get $2.70 for La Barrita to finish in the Top 5, and that’s why the odds are so juicy. She is a legitimate winning hope, so she is worth including in same-race multi bets. Our top two picks are good trifecta and first-four chances, so it’s a good betting race with a lot of value available.
