Cranbourne Best Bets – Friday, October 23

Continue your week with our Cranbourne best bets, highlighting the key runners ready to help you out on Friday!

Cranbourne: Race 2 – BM70 Handicap (2025m)
No. 7 Pariah Pearl

PARIAH PEARL (7) draws well for this assignment coming off a run in the Pinker Pinker Plate.

She was far from disgraced that day just missing out on a place, settling in behind the speed early on before a bit of traffic got in her way approaching the furlong.

Before that, she won well here over the track/distance by 2.5 lengths and is only carrying a couple of extra kgs for her troubles. Likely to find a forward position again, she’ll be dangerous over the late stages.

Open Race time:
7. Pariah Pearl (2)
J: Lachlan Neindorf 58kg
48414 T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young
Recent form sound. Last start 4th of 11 in a F&M Hcp at this track on October 9 over 2025m, 4 len behind Ocean Bay carrying 55kg at $7. Before that won by 2.5 len in a F&M Bm74 at this track on September 25 over 2025m defeating Ocean Bay with 56kg at $8.50. Sets up nicely, can return to winning ways.

Cranbourne: Race 4 – BM74 Handicap (1400m)
No. 7 Cashout
Tip of The Day

CASHOUT (7) is easy to build a case for in search of a winning double.

He was all class resuming at Paklenham in August on his way to a comfortable victory, before coming off second-best to the talented Veyepee at Sandown, a horse that has gone on to win against at Mornington.

He rewarded punters’ patience with a win back at Pakenham two weeks ago by a whopping three lengths, finding a stalking position early before unleashing down the straight. From a nice soft gate again, everything points to a repeat effort.

Open Race time:
7. Cashout (2)
J: Blake Shinn 58kg
5×121 T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Form hard to fault. Most recently favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 3 len in a Bm66 at Pakenham Synthetic on October 2 over 1400m defeating Happy Link with 60kg at $1.90. The run before that held ground to the line 2nd of 15 in a Bm70 at Sandown-Hillside on September 2 over 1500m, on a slow track; 1.5 len behind Veyepee with 57.5kg at $4. Progressive sort who sets up perfectly again.

Cranbourne: Race 5 – VOBIS Gold Star Handicap (1400m)
No. 5 Bossy Benita

BOSSY BENITA (4) appeals third-up for Michael Mehegan.

The daughter to So You Think ran well without winning at Caulfield in the Group 3 Plume Stakes last time out, racing past a few to finish fourth where she had plenty of excuses on offer from a wide gate.

Her third-up form reads very well on paper for this assignment and she looks well-suited getting out to her preferred trip now off two solid efforts over 1200m.

Third-up today and won third-up in the past. Resuming ran second last of 12 in the G3 Courtza (Ww Cockram) Stakes at Caulfield on August 29 over 1200m, slow going 8 len behind Custom carrying 58kg at $21. Second-up 4th of 11 in the G3 Northwood Plume Stakes at Caulfield on October 10 over 1200m, 2 len behind Point Barrow carrying 58kg at $26. Better last time and will improve again to 1400m.

Cranbourne: Race 6 – BM78 Handicap (955m)
No. 7 Headbanger

HEADBANGER (7) is a two-time winner over this short sprint trip here at Cranbourne.

He arrives in terrific order having won at Pakenham second-up a couple of weeks ago, making every post a winner on his way to a comfortable win of close to two lengths.

Another inside barrier and Blake Shinn sticking in the irons are two big ticks in the right boxes, and he should have no issues finding the front and running the majority of this field off their feet.

Second run from a spell favourite; won by 1.75 len in a F&M Bm70 at Pakenham Synthetic on October 2 over 1000m defeating Iced Poppy with 59kg at $1.90. Speedy mare who sets up well for Shinn.
