2026 Caulfield Guineas Favourites & Best Bets
WARWOVEN (6) looks the clear benchmark heading into this year’s Caulfield Guineas and is the runner I’m happy to be with.
The Bjorn Baker-trained colt has gone to another level this preparation, putting together a superb spring campaign highlighted by back-to-back victories in the Run To The Rose and Golden Rose before making the trip to Melbourne.
His performance in the Golden Rose was impossible to ignore, powering away from his rivals to score convincingly and suggesting the step up to 1600m is exactly what he’s looking for.
The son of Sword Of State has continued to improve with racing, and his racing pattern indicates the Caulfield mile should suit him ideally.
Barrier six gives Rachel King every opportunity to secure a soft run behind the speed before unleashing him at the right time, and while he faces the Caulfield circuit for the first time, his current form lines are comfortably the strongest in the race.
With proven Group 1 credentials, race fitness on his side and further upside still to come, Warwoven deserves his place at the top of Caulfield Guineas betting and is the Sydney raider to beat.
| 2. Warwoven (6) J: Rachel King 57kg 6×511 T: Bjorn Baker | |||
| Chasing a hat-trick. At the latest run won by 3 len in the G1 Golden Rose Stakes at Rosehill on September 26 over 1400m defeating St Gotthard carrying 56.5kg at $6. Before that tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by a long-neck in a G2 The Run To The Rose at Rosehill on September 12 over 1200m defeating St Gotthard carrying 57kg at $8. Awesome win in the Golden Rose, clearly the one to beat off that. | |||
BLIND RAISE (2) profiles as the obvious danger to the favourite and looks a terrific Each Way play in this year’s Caulfield Guineas.
The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained gelding has done little wrong throughout his short career, winning four of five starts and stamping himself as a genuine Group 1 contender with a commanding victory in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude.
The son of Ace High appears to be improving with every run this preparation and couldn’t have been more impressive in his lead-up performance, where he travelled beautifully before putting the race away when asked.
Importantly, he’s already proven around the Caulfield circuit and looks set to get the run of the race from barrier two.
Blake Shinn retains the ride, and with the pair likely to settle in a prominent position just behind the speed, Blind Raise should enjoy every opportunity to make his presence felt when the pressure goes on.
While history is against him with the Prelude-Caulfield Guineas double proving difficult to achieve, his recent form suggests he’s capable of bucking that trend and shapes as the runner most likely to test Warwoven in the closing stages.
| 5. Blind Raise (2) J: Blake Shinn 57kg 19×11 T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young | |||
| Third-up today. First-up favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 1.75 len in the LR Mitchell McKenzie Stakes at Sandown-Hillside on September 5 over 1300m in soft going defeating Wolf Gap carrying 57.5kg at $3. Second-up favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 2.75 len in the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude at this track on September 19 over 1400m defeating Tornado Valley carrying 57kg at $2.40. Dominant latest and gets map favours, can upset the Sydney colts. | |||
SOMETHINGS BURNIN’ (3) is the value runner that appeals at the odds and could be the horse capable of giving punters a serious sight in this year’s race.
The Chris Waller-trained colt might not have attracted the same attention as some of the headline chances, but his form this preparation has been hard to fault, producing four consecutive top-three finishes against quality opposition.
The son of Too Darn Hot took another step forward when runner-up in the Stutt Stakes over this track and distance last start, proving he has the credentials to be competitive in a genuine Guineas test.
Just as importantly, he has already shown he can handle the Caulfield mile, which is a significant advantage in a race where several key rivals are tackling the trip under race conditions for the first time.
With Ben Melham taking the ride, Somethings Burnin’ should enjoy a soft run from midfield before being given his chance to finish off strongly in the straight.
He’ll need to improve again to turn the tables on some of the more fancied runners, but his consistency, proven form at the distance and continued progression this campaign make him an attractive knockout hope and one of the better roughies in the field.
| 8. Somethings Burnin’ (3) J: Ben Melham 57kg x1232 T: Chris Waller | |||
| Last start 2nd of 9 in the G2 Bill Stutt Stakes at this track on September 27 over 1600m, head behind Diameter carrying 57kg at $8. The race before that 3rd of 14 in the LR Michael Moroney (Exford Plate) at Flemington on September 12 over 1400m, 1.2 len behind Lara Antipova with 57kg at $4.60. Going well, this is a tough ask. | |||
2026 Caulfield Guineas Same Race Multi Selections
- To Win – No. 2 Warwoven
- Top 3 – No. 5 Blind Raise
- Top 4 – No. 8 Somethings Burnin’
Building around WARWOVEN (6) looks the logical approach after the Baker-trained colt announced himself as the clear Guineas horse to beat with a dominant Golden Rose victory. Drawn to receive every chance from barrier six and boasting the strongest Group 1 form in the field, he appears ideally placed to continue his winning run and complete a prestigious interstate double.
For the second leg, BLIND RAISE (2) running Top 3 has appeal. The Prelude winner has been one of the breakout performers of the spring, and from a perfect inside draw under Shinn, the Busuttin & Young-trained gelding should enjoy a dream run near the speed and prove hard to keep out of the placings.
Rounding out the multi, SOMETHINGS BURNIN’ (3) to finish Top 4 adds value after another honest campaign from the progressive Waller colt. His runner-up finish in the Stutt Stakes over the Caulfield Guineas trip reads well for this assignment, and with Melham aboard, he looks capable of finishing strongly and earning a spot in the first four.
