ZEPHYR SONG (11) gets a strong chance to kick off the Doomben card after an excellent run over this course and distance.
The daughter of Zoustar raced outside the lead last time and kept finding to finish half a length second. She now returns for co-trainers Corey and Kylie Geran, fresh off their Weetwood win.
Her two earlier runs after moving from the Waterhouse & Bott stable were solid: a close fourth at Toowoomba first-up, followed by a third here.
Bella Youngberry’s 3kg claim should help her use the good gate to settle on speed.

| Went within half a length of winning here last start, being pipped late by Kobability after beginning well and travelling into the race cleanly. She had also placed at Doomben the run prior when just run down late, giving her two strong local efforts this campaign. Claim and fourth-up fitness make her the one to beat. | |||
TINY LIGHT (9) has an outside draw to overcome, but her trial form gives her a strong chance of making an impression.
Tony Gollan’s filly won her first trial in June before heading for a spell. She has returned with two promising pieces of work.
In her first trial this time in, she led throughout at the Gold Coast and won by 5.8 lengths. She then showed plenty of early speed in her latest trial, crossing from the outside before winning comfortably.
Bella Youngberry can put that pace to use and aim for a forward spot, whether leading or settling just behind the speed.

| Debuts for Tony Gollan as a $140,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase, and that stable base is a major asset in this field. Bella Youngberry’s 3kg claim is another positive, helping offset the wide barrier 18. Wide draw is the query, but suspect they’ll burn across and lead. | |||
LOCKYER (3) has two wins from his past three starts and looks ready to deliver another strong performance for Tony Gollan.
The trainer found the right race for him three starts ago, when he broke through for an overdue win over this course and distance.
He backed that up with a solid run at Eagle Farm over 1400m, where he peaked late, then returned to Doomben last start. Back over this track and trip, he let down strongly to win easily.
There looks to be good speed here, which should give Emily Pozman, who claims 3kg, a nice run before she asks him to go through his gears in the straight.

| Made it four wins from five at the Doomben 1350m when taking out a 3yo+ Class 3 last start, overcoming a hampered start and covering ground before beating Enforceable by just over a length. The Eagle Farm fourth behind Larrikin Rogue two back was sound, and blinkers going on adds further interest. Blinkers go on and his course pattern makes him the one to beat. | |||
CARDONETTE (7) broke through for her maiden win at the Gold Coast last start, after placing in each of her first four races.
The Tony Gollan-trained mare was a hot $1.35 favourite and delivered. She rounded up the field on the turn, then powered home to win hands and heels by just over a length.
She should be fitter for that run, and the slight rise in distance looks suitable.
The draw is a little awkward, but Ben Thompson takes the ride and can work out the best way through.

| Justified prohibitive odds-on support at Gold Coast last start, winning a Maiden by just over a length despite striking interference and being tightened before producing from back in the field. She had earlier run second to Hello Punters after covering ground, so her consistency is well established. Wide draw is manageable and she looks ready to go on with it. | |||
