Looking to maintain an unbeaten record is Savagram, who scored on debut at Canterbury by 1.8 lengths.
The 3YO colt by Savabeel didn’t beat much that day, and the form hasn’t stacked up well since, but he had their measure with ease, so it was a professional outing.
There has been some market confidence, which is a good sign. He drifted to $4.60 before firming back into $4.20, and that’s a solid betting move with Up and Coming Stakes odds for the favourite.
His chances hinge on how well he jumps from barrier 3. It’s a good place to be, and with Tim Clark riding, he’ll get every chance to win. He is a smart front-running jockey, so expect him to be aggressive coming out of the barriers.

There is a lot of hype around Genesis Runner, who scored a smart win at Newcastle last start, and something close to that could be good enough.
The Freedman-trained colt will make his own luck from the inside barrier, and if his Newcastle win is anything to go by, he could contest the speed throughout the race, which makes for interesting viewing.
Carrying 53kg puts him on the same line as Savagram, and it’s tough to split them. They have the most potential in this race, and our Up and Coming Stakes tips can’t leave him out at the price.
His opening odds of $11 didn’t last long, so there has been stable money for the colt.

Savvy Diamond might be the second-string runner from the Waterhouse/Bott stable, but it’s not wise to leave her out of picks.
The 3YO filly won well on debut at Goulburn against a moderate field before finishing second at Rosehill behind Steel Will, and she finished ahead of Plagiarism, so that’s a quality form guide.
The barrier draw isn’t ideal, so she will need luck, and she’s taking on the boys. However, she clearly has more ability than most, and she could add value with Up and Coming Stakes odds. We rated her at around $8, so the double-figure odds are generous from bookmakers.

All three runners have a solid winning chance, and they should fill three of the top five positions. We need Savagram to finish in the first two home, but he’s our top pick, and he should get it done.
