The San Domenico Stakes headlines a strong 10-race card at Rosehill this Saturday.
The Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes is another feature on the program. Both races provide plenty of interest for punters as the spring carnival gathers pace.
The track is rated a Soft 6, but fine weather in the lead-up could improve the track conditions before race day. The rail is out 3m, so the speed map and early positioning will be important across the meeting.
Golden Slipper winner Guest House resumes in the feature, adding plenty of class to the race.

FEDERAL RESERVE (1) takes on this distance for the first time, but given his performance over 1550m at Canterbury last start, he looks up to it.
The Nacim Dilmi-trained gelding settled a long last before letting down powerfully and putting his rivals away easily to salute by just under a length. It was never an easy thing to do at Canterbury, where on-speed runners are often favoured.
He will strip fitter and has won his only previous third-up race.
The rise in distance should see Tommy Berry settle him in a more forward position from the good draw.

Last start settled well back; won by 0.9 len at Canterbury on August 12 over 1550m on a rain affected track defeating Three Arrows with 57kg at $21. Heading the right way and should be near his top now – will be stalking them into it. | |||
XTREME (5) will appreciate the drop in class after an excellent return over 1300m here last start.
The Peter Snowden-trained gelding settled handy before finding the front early in the straight and fighting gamely once headed to finish second by a neck.
He will strip fitter second-up and should be able to settle better with the blinkers coming off and pre-race earmuffs and a visor going on.
He has drawn well for Regan Bayliss and should enjoy a nice run on speed.

| Second-up. First-up after four months 2nd of 16 in a Highway-C3 at this track on August 15 over 1300m, slow going neck behind Lyon with 55kg at $15. Previously second-up 2nd in a small field in a Super Mdn at Coffs Harbour on February 15 over 1200m, on heavy track; 1.1 len behind Jade Trees carrying 59kg at $3.80. Good fresh and is right in the mix with natural improvement. | |||
AETHELWULF (3) is a progressive stayer looking for his fourth win from six starts.
The Matthew Smith-trained gelding gave his rivals a hiding at Kembla Grange two starts back, winning by 6.5 lengths.
He proved that was no fluke last start when stepping up to 1900m at Canterbury and easily accounting for his rivals by just under five lengths with something in hand.
He has since been back to the trials, where he produced a pleasing piece of work that should have him tuned up nicely.

| Chasing a hat-trick. Last start favourite; tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; scored a big 5 len win at Canterbury on August 5 over 1900m defeating Forbidden Riff carrying 58kg at $1.26. The run before that favourite; came from midfield and scored a big 6 len win at Kembla Grange on July 16 over 1600m defeating Arizona Loner with 60kg at $1.55. Plenty of hype around him, so stable will see this as a stepping stone. | |||
AVISTA (5) has started her career in fine style with four wins from her first five starts.
The Messara & Gavranich-trained mare returned in great order three starts ago at Scone with a 1.64-length win over 1300m before stamping her class at Muswellbrook, where she produced an impressive turn of foot to win by 4.43 lengths over 1500m.
She then came to town for the first time at Randwick and took an age to wind up over 1400m before getting there in the shadows of the post.
Braith Nock’s 1.5kg claim helps, as does stepping up to 1500m, where she should be able to settle closer in the run.

Can only beat what’s in front of you and she continues to do just that. | |||
MR MILLER (2) returned in magnificent order last start with a dominant win at Warwick Farm.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding let down powerfully to win the 1400m contest by 2.72 lengths, signalling that he is ready for this level.
He will strip fitter second-up and has plenty of upside, given he has had only four starts and finished in the top two in each of them.
There is no speed drawn to his inside, which should see Tommy Berry find a prominent position.

SHE’S AN ARTIST (1) returns to the races for the first time since finishing sixth, beaten 2.85 lengths, at Flemington in March.
The Ciaron Maher-trained mare does her best racing fresh, having won two of her three first-up starts, including last preparation when storming home to get up right on the line at Caulfield Heath.
She has had two jump-outs leading into this and will appreciate returning to this class.
Braith Nock claims 1.5kg and can settle off what looks like a strong speed before launching in the straight.

SAVAGRAM (9) impressed when debuting with a win over 1200m at Canterbury.
The Waterhouse & Bott-trained colt showed scintillating early speed to jump straight to the front and was never headed, going strongly to the line to win by 1.36 lengths.
He will be better for the experience, and Tim Clark sticks, which is a good sign given he rode stablemate Plagiarism last start.
Top front-running jockey Clark can drive forward and take up the running or box seat from the good draw.

BLUE DOOR (6) impressed on debut in the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes, racing outside the lead over this course and distance before finding the line strongly to beat The Next Episode by a head.
The Bjorn Baker-trained filly recently returned in the Listed Rosebud, where she gave a terrific sight over this course and distance before being picked off late by Chilly Girl.
She only had one trial leading into that race, so she should have come on nicely.
Tommy Berry will look to utilise her speed advantage and lead the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes all the way from the inside barrier.

ALTHOFF (7) caught the eye when running on strongly from the back to finish second first-up before producing an impressive performance last start.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding enjoyed a sweet run before producing a devastating turn of foot to put his rivals away by 2.16 lengths.
He will strip fitter and won third-up last preparation.
The outside barrier is not ideal, but the wizard Zac Lloyd retains the ride and should give him every chance behind what looks like a hot speed.

GRAND IMPACT (2) should be ready to produce his best third-up following a year in the paddock.
The Price & Kent Jnr-trained gelding was no match for Roselyn’s Star when finishing second first-up, but he still ran well.
He loomed as the winner last start over this course and distance but could not get past Eagle Express, who enjoyed a 5.5kg weight advantage. That proved the difference, with Grand Impact finishing second by a neck.
Zac Lloyd takes the ride and should be able to stalk the leaders from the good gate.
