The UFC stays in Las Vegas this weekend with another outstanding card of fights at the Apex headlined by one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC.
Islam Makhachev is looking to continue his winning streak when he takes on Bobby Green who comes in on short notice for the main event.
We have tipped 11 winners from 15 tips in 2022 at a profit of +14.33 units and our full 2022 UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Green Tips & Preview can be found below.
Islam Makhachev is the number four ranked UFC Lightweight contender and comes into this fight on the back of eight wins in a row.
The Dagestani wrestler is 20-1 in his professional MMA career which includes seven first round finishes.
Bobby Green comes into this fight on short notice having won his fight against Nasrat Haqparast by unanimous decision just two weeks ago in Houston at UFC 271.
Credit has to be given to Green who’s stock will only grow further regardless of the outcome in this fight.
Makhachev has been touted as a future champion of the division after an incredible run in the UFC which includes wins over Thiago Moises, Dan Hooker and Drew Dober.
With those ahead of him in the division either already having a shot at the title or about to get their shot, he does seem one of the most obvious choice next.
Green is very tough and applies a hell of a lot of pressure with his pace but, like many of those fighters coming from Dagestan, Makhachev excels in drowning his opponent with his grappling.
The most important discipline in MMA is wrestling in my opinion and Makhachev is arguably the best in the entire promotion.
As much as it would be an incredible result if Green won, he is about to found out that there is levels to this game and Makhachev will find a way to get a finish inside the five rounds.
The co main event of the evening will take place at Middleweight between Misha Cirkunov (15-7) and Wellington Turman (17-5).
Eight of Cirkunov’s 15 wins have been by submission and he has 11 first round finishes, three of which have come in under a minute.
Wellington Turman has four wins by KO and seven by submission and he has wins over Sam Alvey and Markus Perez.
Turman has just one win in his last three fights and both losses were by KO in the first round which puts a question mark on his chin in my opinion.
Cirkunov had two wins from six fights in the Light Heavyweight division before making the switch down to Middleweight in his last fight.
He lost a close split decision to Krzysztof Jotko in his Middleweight debut in October last year and lost few admirers.
This is a close betting match up but I give Cirkunov the advantage in wrestling and on the feet.
Aside from a loss in just his second pro MMA fight, Arman Tsarukyan’s only other pro loss came against the man in the main event Islam Makhachev.
And that was a three round war that he loss by decision and earned Fight of the Night.
Joel Alvarez also has just two losses in his professional career and comes into this fight off the back of four wins in a row.
Incredibly 16 of his 19 pro wins have been by submission.
This is set to be a fascinating contest between two genuine Lightweight prospects where all forms of mixed martial arts will be on display.
This is a very interesting fight and while I’m struggling to pick a winner i’m convinced the fight will need the judges to decide the winner.
