Run over 1,400 metres, The Vanity is a Group 3 race restricted to three-year-old fillies held at Flemington Racecourse on VRC Derby Day on the opening Day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival as of 2024.
It was previously run in February over the autumn on Black Caviar Lightning Day serving as an Australian Guineas lead-up. The latest The Vanity graduates to go on and win the Australian Guineas include Shamrocker (4th in 2011) and Mosheen (2nd in 2012).
The set weights plus penalties event offers $240,000 in prize money ran in the autumn of 2024 and there were officially two editions of the 2024 The Vanity with the event also taking place on Derby Day on the Saturday prior to the Melbourne Cup.

The 2025 The Vanity takes place on Saturday the 1st of November 2025 as part of Victoria Derby Day, which is the first of the famous four-day Melbourne Cup Carnival.
