From 1957, all the way up to 2025, we have a comprehensive list of Golden Slipper Stakes winners from past race meets. Included are finishing times, as well as jockey and weight carried to victory by the star juveniles who have won the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.

Todman was the inaugural Golden Slipper winner back in 1957.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse holds the record having prepared an incredible eight past Golden Slipper winners, most recently Farnan (2020) and Lady Of Camelot (2024) in partnership with Adrian Bott.

Five horses have completed the interstate Blue Diamond Stakes – Golden Slipper double: John’s Hope (1972), Manikato (1978), Bounding Away (1986), Courtza (1989), and Sepoy (2011).

Lady Of Camelot (2nd in 2024) was the last Golden Slipper winner to come via a lead-up run in the Blue Diamond Stakes in Melbourne.

The Golden Slipper is the opening leg of the coveted Sydney Two-Year-Old Triple Crown with the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Group 1 Champagne Stakes the other two events in the series.

Six horses have completed the Sydney Juvenile Triple Crown: Baguette (1970), Luskin Star (1977), Tierce (1991), Burst (1992), Dance Hero (2004), and Pierro (2012).

Other notable Golden Slipper Stakes winners throughout history include Skyline (1958), Storm Queen (1966), Sweet Embrace (1967), Vain (1969), Marscay (1982), Flying Spur (1995), Miss Finland (2006), Capitalist (2016), She Will Reign (2017), Farnan (2020), and Stay Inside (2021).

The 2022 Golden Slipper winner was the Gary Portelli-trained Sweet Embrace Stakes winning filly Fireburn ($12) who went on to become the latest runner to complete the Golden Slipper – Inglis Sires’ double.

The Golden Slipper Stakes 2023 winner Shinzo was ridden to victory by international hoop Ryan Moore handing trainer Chris Waller his first success in the event in a $16 upset over the beaten favourite Cylinder.

The 2024 Golden Slipper winner was the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Blue Diamond second placed filly Lady Of Camelot ($6.50) who was ridden hard late down the outside by Blake Shinn to beat home the boys in an impressive upset.

The 2025 Golden Slipper Stakes winner is TBC and will be known when the famous two-year-old’s autumn feature runs at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday the 22nd of March 2025.
