Crystal Mile

Looking for early info on this year’s Crystal Mile? The experts at Neds have put together everything you need to know before this year’s race.

Crystal Mile, Moonee Valley

Run over 1,600 metres, the Crystal Mile is a Group 2 race taking place at Moonee Valley Racecourse. With a $300,000 prize purse, it attracts some of Australia’s best milers, along with a few international entrants and is held as part of Cox Plate Day in late October each spring.

Starting out as a Listed Race, this race was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1986, followed by Group 2 status in 1997.

The weight-for-age Crystal Mile serves as a superb lead up for the Kennedy Mile now run as the Kennedy Cantala – with Turn Me Loose (2015) the last horse to do the double.
