Asian Beau Stakes
Looking for this year’s Asian Beau Stakes betting odds, field and tips? The experts at Neds have put together everything you need to know before this year’s race.
Run over 1,400 metres, the Asian Beau Stakes is a Group 3 race taking place at Ascot Racecourse. With a $200,000 prize purse as of 2023, it attracts some of Western Australia’s best sprinters and mid-distance runners.
The handicap clash is contested on the same day as Melbourne’s iconic Victoria Derby Day at Flemington.
Starting out as a Listed Race, this race was upgraded to Group 3 status in 1999.
This race serves as a decent lead up into the Group 1 Railway Stakes held back at the track over the Perth Summer Racing Carnival.
Six horses have completed the Asian Beau – Railway Stakes double throughout Perth racing history: Bold Extreme (1996), Willoughby (1998), El Presidente (2007), Galaxy Star (2018), Inspirational Girl (2020) who also ran second in that year’s Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) – now run as the Northerly Stakes – and Western Empire (2021) who was also runner-up in that season’s Kingston Town Classic results.
More recently, Trix Of The Trade improved on a third in the 2022 Asian Beau Stakes to win that year’s Railway Stakes next start.

Which Horse Will Win The Asian Beau Stakes in 2023?
The best way to pick which horse will win the Asian Beau Stakes in 2023 is to take into account their lead-up spring/summer racing form, assess the barriers, and consider the weight each horse will carry.
Additional factors to consider when picking the Asian Beau Stakes winner include:
- Lead Ups – Held early on in WA’s racing season, this race doesn’t have many lead ups, though it might be worth checking out the Northerly Stakes.
- Mixed Company – At 1,400 meters, this race attracts both sprinters and middle distance runners.
- Local Edge – The majority of entrants will be from WA, because there are plenty of other meets happening at the same time of year on the East Coast.
