The 2022 The Galaxy winner Shelby Sixtysix scored an upset getting in as the first emergency to continue his rise through the ranks from a Highway horse to Group 1 winner.
The Galaxy 2023 winner was that autumn’s Expressway Stakes winning mare Mariamia ($10) ridden to an upset victory by apprentice jockey Tyler Schiller to hand trainer Joe Pride his third win in the event.
The 2024 The Galaxy winner was the James Cummings-trained Brazen Beau mare Zapateo ($26) who scored a notable upset at a big price on the back of her lead-up Challenge Stakes second.
The 2025 The Galaxy winner was unbeaten three-year-old colt Private Harry ($3.50F) who saluted for the punters in style with a 0.79 length win over last year’s third placegetter Front Page to hand trainer Nathan Doyle and jockey Ashley Morgan their first Group 1 victories.
The 2026 The Galaxy winner was three-year-old Snitzel filly Marhoona at $12 for trainer Michael Freedman with jockey Kerrin McEvoy aboard the previous year’s Golden Slipper winner from barrier 6 on 52kg to win by 0.13 lengths in a photo-thriller on a Soft (6) track in a time of 1:04.39.
