Run over 1,400 metres, the PB Lawrence Stakes is a Group 2 race taking place at Caulfield Racecourse. With a $300,000 prize purse, the event is run at weight-for-age and serves as an early lead-up to Australasia’s weight-for-age championship the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley in October.

Originally run as a mile race at Flemington, this race is registered as the J.J. Liston Stakes and has been won by many great gallopers including in recent years Whobegotyou (2011), Hartnell (2017) and star filly Mystic Journey (2019).
Mr Brightside (2022, 2023) became the race’s first dual champion in 52 years and just the third in P.B. Lawrence Stakes history joining Tauto (1971, 1972) and My Peak (1960, 1962).
