BRC Lord Mayors Cup Tips 2026
Our insider 2026 BRC Lord Mayors Cup tips will be published here the week of the race and a full betting preview found on the Neds Blog.
Currently run over 2000 metres (increased from 1800m ahead of the 2026 edition), the BRC Lord Mayors Cup is a Group 3 race taking place at Eagle Farm Racecourse in late May or early June as part of the Kingsford Smith Cup Day program during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival. With a prize purse of $200,000 as of 2023, the set weights plus penalties event was formerly run over a mile (1600m) and known as the Eagle Farm Mile.
Runners in the Lord Mayors Cup could now head towards the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (3200m) held over two miles (as of 2021) on Stradbroke Handicap Day back at Eagle Farm a fortnight later.
The Lord Mayors Cup winner is also now exempt from ballot for the $1.2 million Group 2 The Q22 (2200m) run on Stradbroke Day replacing the former PJ O’Shea Stakes (defunct).
Without A Fight (2023) was the last runner to complete the Lord Mayors Cup – The Q22 double before his Melbourne Cup victory at Flemington that November.
In 2025, New Endeavour won the Lord Mayors Cup before a second in The Q22 quinella.
