Contested over 1200m, the Bow Mistress Trophy is a Group 3 race for fillies and mares held during the popular Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival and now known as the Mystic Journey Stakes in honour of 2019 Australian Guineas – All-Star Mile winning filly from Tasmania Mystic Journey.
The race is run at weight-for-age and was first held in 2006 before gaining Group 3 status for the first time in 2012.
Fillies and mares in the Bow Mistress Trophy field face off for $150,000 in total prize money on a Sunday in February, now on the same day as the Group 3 Hobart Cup (2400m).
To date there has been just one dual Bow Mistress Trophy winner with Rebel Bride (2012, 2013). The race’s 2015 champion I Love It however returned to run second in 2016 and third in the 2017 Bow Mistress Trophy results.
It serves as a key lead-up to the Group 2 Vamos Stakes (1400m) at Launceston later in the month. Geegees Mistruth (2025) was the last filly to complete the Mystic Journey Stakes – Vamos Stakes double.
