Run over 2,000 metres, the Belmont Oaks is a Listed race taking place at Belmont Park Racecourse in late June or early July towards the very end of the Perth Winter Racing Carnival. 

Note, in 2025 the Belmont Oaks ran at Bunbury Racecourse.

The set weights event is open only to three-year-old fillies and offers $125,000 in prize money. It takes place on the same card as the Aquanita Stakes, which is the equivalent race for colts and geldings. 

The best fillies out of the Belmont Oaks are likely to head towards the $125,000 Listed Belmont Classic (2200m) a fortnight later. Chantrea (2020) and Ihts Closing Inn (2024) are the latest to complete the Belmont Oaks – Belmont Classic double.

The best way to pick which filly will win the Belmont Oaks in 2026 is to take into account their lead-up winter racing form, assess the barriers and look for the proven performers at the track.

Chantrea ($1.85 in 2020) followed by Searchin’ Roc’s ($1.5 in 2022), Ihts Closing Inn ($2.30 in 2023), and Fancy Red ($2.35 in 2025) are the last Belmont Oaks favourites to win. In 2021 the odds-on Belmont Oaks favourite Sheza Chalmer narrowly lost to 17/1 outsider Chili Is Hot.

Belmont Oaks Race Day 2026

The 2026 Belmont Oaks takes place as the feature event on Belmont Oaks Day on Saturday, July 4, 2026. It is one of two Black-Type features on the race card along with the $125,000 Listed Aquanita Stakes (2000m) for the colts and geldings.

On the same day in Queensland at the Sunshine Coast the $300,000 Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m) takes place.
