We have Ethereal Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 3 2000m race at Caulfield on Saturday.
Ethereal Stakes odds have Miss Waititi as the favourite in what should be a cracking contest on Caulfield Cup Day.
MISS WAITITI (2) put the writing on the wall with a big win at Flemington last start, and that’s the best form guide for this race.
The 3YO filly won by 2.5 lengths, running away from the field, and that was an excellent first test over distance. It came over 1800m, and she looks like handling the 2000m distance better than most horses in this field.
She is by Circus Maximus, so she is bred to enjoy middle-distance racing, and we’re not surprised to see the betting support. She opened at $2.90 and she has been steady throughout the week, which is a good sign, as money could have easily come for runners to beat her.

Our Ethereal Stakes predictions are keen to include VOYNICHESE (5), who brings form from many different places to the table.
She has run in Queensland, Sydney, and Melbourne, and apart from her last two starts, she has been competitive. We’re happy to overlook her two recent runs, and she ran good sectionals at Rosehill last start.
She was always going to improve with a couple of runs under her belt, and although she ran at $91 odds last start behind unbeaten filly Proxima Dea, she ran better than her odds suggested.
We think she’s going under the radar at $8.50, which is a fair each-way price, and she is worth including in all bets. She’s talented at her best, and Lachlan Neindorf should get a good run from barrier 5.

Chris Waller could work his magic with YOUR COLOUR (12), who hasn’t been looked past with Ethereal Stakes odds at $10.
She broke maidens with a win at Newcastle two starts ago and form out of that field has since run well. She then finished third at Randwick behind Wonka, and Wonka has since run second in a tough race.
There is nothing wrong with her form entering this race, and although going the other way around at Caulfield is never an easy task. However, Waller knows how to get them on the other leg, and she represents value with Ethereal Stakes tips at $10, so include her to boost potential payouts.

Punters get value odds with our Ethereal Stakes SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
- Top 2 – No. 2 Miss Waititi
- Top 3 – No. 1 Voynichese
- Top 5 – No. 5 Your Colour
We have Miss Waititi Top 2, Voynichese Top 3, and Your Colour Top 5, which pays $11.50 for our three-runner SRM.
We’re confident of Miss Waititi finishing in the first two home, and Voynichese should be right around the mark for a top 2 finish. Your Colour is the riskier bet, but Waller rarely finishes out of the money in big races.
