Wyong Gold Cup 2026 Betting Tips, Predictions & Favourites

Neds has Wyong Gold Cup tips and predictions for the listed feature race out of Wyong this Friday.

Wyong Gold Cup odds have an even betting market, and we expect a close contest over the 2100m journey.

Best Bet
No. 1 Eliyass

ELIYASS (4) has been a good bet throughout his career. He has a 201% ROI, so we’re happy to include him in our Wyong Gold Cup predictions for 2026.

The 8YO gelding got back to his best form with a win at Randwick in the Premier’s Cup Prelude, and finishing in second was Matusalem, who is the current $3.50 favourite at time of publish, so the form stacks up well.

His best chances come when he has an uncontested lead, and although that’s not easy to get at Wyong, he has enough early speed to stretch out to a 1-2 length lead. If he gets a soft lead, they could struggle to pick him up.

He has sustained speed, which is ideal for middle-distance races, and based on his form, he should be the favourite. Take the $4.50 as a value bet with Wyong Gold Cup tips.

Third-up today and won third-up previously. Resuming ran second last of 15 in the LR Civic Stakes at Randwick on June 20 over 1400m, slow going 12 len behind Midnight Dynamite carrying 60.5kg at $81. Second-up won by a long-neck at Randwick on August 8 over 1800m defeating Matusalem with 59kg at $26. Going well.

No. 2 Matusalem

We have Eliyass getting the better of MATUSALEM (1), but he’s the obvious quinella chance after posting back-to-back placings this campaign.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding looks to end a long winless drought, but the Wyong Gold Cup looks like an ideal target for him. His last two placings at Randwick were good, including a placing behind Eliyass.

If he has improved since that run, he could turn the tables. However, the safer bet is to back to place or run the quinella with Eliyass. He will hit the line strongly, and as the market suggests, he’s a top win hope.

We priced him a little longer than $3.50, but we respect the betting moves. He’s a popular Waller runner, which drives down his odds.

No. 4 Age of Sail

Trainer Kris Lees has a good record in provincial cups races, so we’re including AGE OF SAIL (6) in our Wyong Gold Cup tips.

The 7YO son of Frankel is bred to be better than most horses running in Australia, and his early form when coming to Australia was outstanding. However, his most recent form hasn’t been flash.

His form has tapered off considerably, but running at Wyong could see his form turn around. He comes off a ninth in the Premier’s Cup Prelude behind Eliyass, but the big tracks have never suited him.

He prefers hugging the rail around a tight-turning track, so Wyong could provide his formline with a big boost. At the odds, he could boost payouts in a big day.

Punters get value odds with our Wyong Gold Cup SRM, which includes our three selected runners.

  • Top 2 – No. 1 Eliyass
  • Top 2 – No. 2 Matusalem
  • Top 4 – No. 4 Age Of Sail

We have Eliyass Top 2, Matusalem Top 2, and Age of Sail Top 4, which pays a healthy price at Neds.

Eliyass and Matusalem are good chances of running one-two, and with Age of Sail running in the Top 4, our Wyong Gold Cup predictions look good for a SRM bet.
